Polls, polls, polls...

Hello everyone,

as you might have noticed, I added the first poll. What inspired me to do it? In fact, it was Overlord, who posted a poll on what the players would like to see. Personally, I am interested mostly in the EU tree, which I'd definitely prefer to see before the Japanese tree, despite the fact the Japanese vehicles are actually very interesting. Either way, European tree (I really gotta stop using the "EU" as in "European Union", I really hope noone in WG is stupid enough to try to implement the EU flag) will come eventually, sooner or later.

For those who care: which form would you prefer? One big mashed-up supertree, or smaller national trees (even though some nations might not get all the branches)? The poll is on the right side!

PS: how do you like the new banner? :)

  1. I would prefer separate trees, but unfortunately WG has nasty habit of adding made-up or never build tanks, because they decided that every tree must have SPG's, TD's and lines should lead to tier X.

So this is why I prefer one European tree. In other case we will have insane numbers of never build tanks and imported ones. If any European nation should have its own tree it is Italy, which had the biggest number of mass produced tank's models, but even here it is hard to make separate tree with those full lines.

    1. I don't think it's necessary that every tree must have all tank types' branches, not even they should lead to tier 10.
Ok they can make a big tree, which would appear as 'EU' in the list, but in the tree there should be separate branches for every nation, with their own crew. Maybe some of them could merge to each other, but then what about their crews?

I think it's better to have "half branches" with blind ends, such as the dedicated scouts' atm. Just be historically accurate, no more copy tanks to fill out the gaps.
As a hungarian I don't care if hun tank branches end at let's say T7 or T8, and it wouldn't have complete SPG or TD line. Just put in the game the known tank types, balance it to compete with the others, that's it...

Well... if some nations only have higher tier tanks... (maybe one of them is Switzerland?) there would be some problems to build a tree/branch... in this case they could attach these tanks to other nations' lower tier branches as "side branch". (but with separate crew, just don't make a common EU crew under the starry flag :S )

  2. I would prefer one big tree, as it will be easier to swap crews. I know some people are very proud of their own country, and I respect that. But for the sake of gameplay I think we will have to learn to live with forced fraternity.

By the way, I like your banner very much!

  3. One aspect was never mentioned: which names will the crew get?
Polish commander, Czech driver, Italian radio man, Swedish gunner and Greek loader... should be fun ;)

    1. Yes, names such as Svatopluk Taglietti or Alessandro Novák don't sound too appealing, do they? The last version mentioned by Storm was that when generating a new crew, the player gets to pick the crew's nationality for the EU tree.

    2. My suggestion still stands - Gypsys for EU-tree. There will be no hassle with different nationalities there!

    3. Please,no Gypsies!
Just imagine, you wake up in the morning just to find out that all your tank ammo and modules are gone and the crew is missing....

    4. Screw it. Let's go hard line. Meaning You can only have tank from one Nation driven by a crew from this exact Nation. And if that means that You'll end up with fully trained crew with no tier X to research? Well, tough sh*t that Your fellow engineers didn't try harder. ;) Also National Premium tanks could be very handy in cases like these.

    5. I've never thought about the premium tank issue with the European tech tree. that's a big point. before that I'd have chosen the separate trees and crews. but I don't like the "big tree" solution either. the only thing that would make me happy here would be separate tech trees that however share their crews.

  4. I'd strongly dislike having multiple trees with 5 - 30 tanks each.

I also think that branches ending below T10 are a waste. This includes the existing dead-end scout branches. The solution in the chinese tree where the light branch leads back to another branch seems better.

I don't know why anyone would want their nation's tree but accept that it's predestined to be viewed as sub-standard, 'kind of shitty', etc. because it's incomplete.

    1. Look... how many smaller european country has candidate to T9-10 tanks, TDs or SPGs?
      Switzerland, Sweden?
      What about the others?
      They don't have...
Is it a bigger "pride" to have foreign top tanks on the top of national tank branches?

Who cares if some don't have T10s? If somebody wanna play let's say czech, italian, hungarian, polish, etc. tanks, he will stick to them, not to the endline "foreign" tanks.

  5. I voted for 1 big supertree altough I'd like to have Italians excluded as separate one (I'm not italian :))

  6. I would prefer separate brances, although most likely it will be all mashed up,i guess its alot easier to form proper branch,e.g. Chech tree could be combined with Yugoslav tree in a way that Chech tanks could occupy tiers 1-7 ,LT and MT together, and YU could fill in tiers 8-10,considering pre-ww2 YU had only imports, shabby ones tbh,and only after 1945 had original designs. You can check it out with YugoManiac about this idea.
Arty branch(es) could be nation-joint,rty is "out" these days,so noone would mind.

    Keep up the good work,

  7. For my knowlegde only few nation have a tanks for full tree (1, 2 X tiers)

-Poland , but i think with a licence
    -Italy
    -Czechoslovak
    -hmm mayby Switzerland.

    1. Poland? Is this a joke? Or you want another Chinese tree
-Italy yes but some high tier will be hard to find
-For Cz maybe but too much German in the tech tree would be awful. Maybe some skoda plans can be found...
-i'm swiss and i can tell you one thing. If there is more than 4 swiss tank that will a big number. 90% of swiss tank are copies of other nation ...

    2. Dude, chillax. Several versions of Polish tree, admittedly only reasonable to tier V, have been created by community. And that with hardly any foreign tanks. But since that time Falathi (Polish Community Mod) mentioned that apparently WG managed to find projects up to tier VIII, at the least. So maybe it won't be all doom-and-gloom.
Regarding the Italians, wasn't there a rumour some time ago about macaronized Patton as possible tier X?
And if we'll all end up in European tree I won't mind zipping around in top tier tanks from proud Nation that gave us all Fondue, Watches and Swiss Army Knives ;)

    3. The tier 10 M47 was debunked. It's not considered to be T10 Italian med, they found something else as far as I know. Also, from what I heard, the Polish tanks are actually T7 stuff at the top, T8 is still missing...

    4. Thanks for clarification. About Polish tanks I shall not comment beyond statement that Falathi, though tight lipped, seemed very enthusiastic. Well, we'll wait and see...

  8. i prefer a big EU tech tree because is easier to navigate and nice banner

  9. i can clearly see the Role of the Minor Tankbuilding States (no matter if it was pre or post ww2) where imo Italy, Sweden and the Czechs are in the lead.
Yet id personally prefer to not open up too many nation with too many lines of tanks.

Dont take it as offense but if it would be after me, id not open up a Seperate Tree for European States, as the amount of tanks might get out of control.

I really see the wish of every country to drive their very own vehicles. Yet there is enough work to do like e.g Multiturret and Multigun which should have higher priority.

    1. Oh god please no. Not when the EU support (in my country) is at 20 percent or something. The Fourth Reich AKA EU is not something to be promoted.

    2. I would support the European flag just to tease silly Czechs in this case.

      Delete
    3. Support for EU is low all across Europe as far as I know. Also, the biggest communities on EU server are Polish and Czechoslovaks (along with Germans), then there is the Balkans community... those guys will want their flags.

      Delete
    4. Nah, it's mainly you Czechs and the Brits, as usual. Why did you guys join the EU to begin with if you only wanted to whine about it?

    5. HA!!! No way. Count most of the Polish in. But not that silly flag stuff. We want proper armoured forces checker board/white eagle. If Germans can have Balkenkreutz, Russians a Soviet Star and so on, I believe that every tanking Nation should appear under their own colours.

  11. I'm italian and i want to spread all the bolts of the italians WW2 tanks... So I heard that the m47 patton with is a candidate for the tier X medium, maybe armed with the Royal Ordnance L7...

  12. I have already posted a try at an Italian tree at:
    http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/200193-italian-tanks/page__fromsearch__1
and it is complete with artillery, and tanks all the way to Tier X without too many elaborations on real life vehicles. (Certainly fewer than many other nationalitiers). There are enough Czech vehicles for a Czech tree as well and possibly enough to make a Swedish tree with some serious work.
WoT wants a Pan-European tree to just get them in game and not have to develop too many more lines. The whole crew naming and nationality issues will be a joke. (Imagine spending gold on your Italian crew and then have them all made Hungarian and then back to Italian the next level).
It's a complete joke and given the nationalistic raving of some you can only imagine the shit-storm which will ensue when a Polish crew then goes into a Czech tank and then back again or something. No, no no.
It's a disaster waiting to happen and should be avoided at all costs.
Japanese tree MUST come next and then work on an Italian tree. (Followed by a Czech tree) In this way the game will reflect the main protagonists (and tank developers) of WW2 (I know it's not a WW2 game)and will match up with the eventual release of World of Warplanes and World of Battleships.
As for flags, that should NEVER have been allowed to happen. I have already seen the deliberate teamkilling of people for a national flag (Israeli flag tk's are not uncommon)so add in a Palestinian or Syrian or Iranian flag carrying vehicle into the mix will be crazy.
    Voll.
It would be fun to troll the game with a Tibetan flag on a chinese tank but modern flags on period vehicles- yuck. Might as well have My Little Ponies and pink tanks. No more flags.

    1. >Japanese tree MUST come next
Well, it WILL come next from what I can understand. It's an arguable choice imo but who knows, probably they're trying to enter into the Japanese market as well.

If they won't ever remove them, and compensate costumers, they should just complete the mess for sake of coherency.

    2. On the subject of flags, the in-game British flag is incorrect (the diagonal stripes are all symmetrical), yet on the Australian flag the diagonal stripes are correct!

However seeing as I don't put flags on my tank (silly thing if you ask me) it's not a huge issue.

    3. Vollketten (I'm assuming it's You) I would give another go if I were You. Sahariano at tier VII??? C'mon Mate...

  13. the way I see it: having more (separate) tech trees means having more tier 1 tanks. lots of funny little tanks wouldn't make it into the game if there's only one big Eurotree. (and with the free tier 1 tanks come the free garage slots :) )

    ReplyDelete
  14. and why is it called "European" tech tree anyway? should be called "rest-of-europe" tree, since Britain, France, Germany and parts of Russia are not that far away from Europe ;)

so, IMO, before thinking about a flag that might fit, we should find a correct designation for it.

    1. I don't mind "Miscellaneous European Nations" (MNO) or some stuff like that. As long as it's not "European Union"... :)

      Delete
    2. i don't know, MNO just doesn't sound suitable to me. it needs a worthy name. "miscellaneous" is a terrible word for a tech tree in a game where it's all about nations and history ... kinda ;)

maybe divide the Eurotree into two trees instead of one for each nation. something simple like "axis forces" and "allied forces". curious, how WG will solve that problem.

  15. Yes!!! Overlord took my idea for the poll!!!

As for Euro tree flag problem: EU flag would not bother me (since it is already on the forum) even though my country is not a member of EU... or make the flag blue without gold stars (so it is not full EU)... in any case I would like to see historical emblems and nation crews and of course lots of tanks
