The_Chieftain on 8.6

First, a quote from The_Chieftain on 8.6 (27th April, 12:05):
Well, I've seen the 8.6 notes, and they are far more significant than I had been led to believe. Arty is, as the devs on the Russian forum reported, getting a major re-work, some things I think are good, some not so good. We'll see how it pans out. Arty isn't the only thing getting significantly changed either. The 'nuclear' comment is somewhat justified.

Now I am curious :) Truth to be told, I expect some change of gold-ammo-for-creds type: useful for some but controversial for others. Sexton I and Excelsior are also scheduled to appear.

  1. Whoa, major rework ? Srsly ? How does this rework will look like if the major problem was it's big popularity ?

I bet the word "nuclear" appears for a reason :3

    1. It'd be interesting if they gave indirect fire sights to tanks that were supposed to have them, ala the SU-76 and such.

Also, nuclear shells confirmed for the ISU-152's gold round?

    1. best way can be introduce a new coin that can only be earned by medals or every time you play and do something.

gold ammo will be able to be bought with those or gold, no credits.

    2. How come you don't know it will stay for good ?

Barely 5% of people use gold shells so there's no need to remove it

      Delete
    3. %5 of people? I beg to differ, nearly in every battle people shooting gold rounds at me. It can easily tell since I see blue and orange tracers going my and team mates direction. This is serious problem.

      Delete
    4. gold ammo needs to go away from random battles, I have no problem with keeping it as an option for CW, TCs and training
      but, for randoms .. NO!

      Delete
    5. I see no problem with people using gold ammo. I don't use it and I don't mind when my enemy uses it. It's part of the game and it's expensive as hell so why not?

A good player will always know how to deal with any kind of ammo. A bad player will always complain about everything.

I like the fact that WG made this feature available for in game currency.

there is not less p2w, there is more
as Mao above you said: it's expensive
so, who has access to credits more? a free player or a player who has a premium account and a premium tank

WG said only 5% of the population uses gold ammo, it's a lie!

      Delete
    9. Remember, if you know how to pen enemy tanks, you're using pay to win gold. Sort of like how dying after driving your Tiger out into open ground means Russian Bias.

    10. @ XT-Reality
Gold rounds do not have a different tracer colour, you can't tell who's shooting premium that way.

  3. I would love them to change the ammo system:
    Ap
    - medium dmg and medium pen
    APCR and Heat
    - low dmg and high pen (HESH can stay as it is)
    HE
    - high dmg(+explosion/splash) and low pen.

    1. The obvious and rational approach? noob. ;)

      Delete
    2. There isn't any reason to make APCR/HEAT do less damage other than simply being arbitrary.

I think they're either inverting the normalization, doing a massive rework of how caliber relates to damage (possibly incorporating velocity), or both.

Maybe completely redoing the guns on one or more nations, as well.

      Delete
    3. Yeah but it would bring back the game to its roots where ppl had to learn the weakspots (or with this new ammo "system" instead deal less dmg).

      Delete
    4. APCR has a smaller projectile inside it. THE 128mm APCR has an 88MM tungsten round inside.

      Delete
    5. But higher velocity, thus higher kinetic energy (v is squared, mass is not).

    6. But no bursting charges.

  4. Can't wait, but want to know what's happening to the Arty branches ASAP as me and my clan are all grinding like crazy on these to try to get ahead of the game/changes
I know we have had a glimpse of the new tanks, but want to see them in the tree, along with costs and kit etc.

  5. I bet that whatever it is, It will send the E-100 back to oblivion. Once again.

As much as I hate the HEAT mechanics, it's the only thing that makes the E-100 still somewhat viable.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. pfff, E-100 is fine with 15cm AP rounds, you just need to aim carefully and thx to the armor you had the time to do so

      Delete
    2. this is so wrong its not even funny. the E-100 is not viable in competitive games without HEAT, 234 pen in a heavy tier 10 game... tell me where the weak spot on an is7, is4, MAUS T110E4 is that you can pen with only 234mm. Lower front hulls are too strong at tier 10 to be penned by AP, the gun is too inaccurate to reliable fire at hatches, and will ricochet off the t110e5s hatch even with a good hit.

and the armour isn't that good... especially in world of gold... you are playing this tank wrong and I guarantee IF you even have one... that your stats are garbage.

      Source 2.7k Avg Damage E-100 player with 60% W/R

      Delete
    3. my stats: 3044 avg dmg (decreased after gold introduction), 68% WR, mostly solo
LFP of most tanks even on tier 10 are reliable to penetrate with 235mm penetration. Its getting tricky, when they start angling their tanks, but then you can go in close range and just brawl, which actually is the right tactic vs. Maus, T110E3 and sometimes IS-4, too

      Delete
    4. I stand corrected, my experience was mainly taken from CW, I hadn't really considered pubstomping, you should have a youtube channel!

      Delete
    5. since i have a fare share of CW knowledge: you can use the E-100 on some maps, then ofc you should spray gold but enemies do that too, so you shouldnt care (5 E-100s on Ensk can rip everything apart)

and i should stream, but my PC broke and my laptop isnt strong enough to stream (it just manages to reach playable fps on standard graphic)
and i actually have three youtube videos on my channel

but you can watch my replays ...

    3. I bet the exact same. Golden ammo gave the paper tank a kind of edge over the armored landships.
My bet is overall small armor and great hitpoint overhaul.

I knida-sorta hope they will make meds less resistant to hits - at the moment a tier X medium tank hp is a bit ludicrous.

      @ silent stalker
heavy armour is ok the way it is, the only way they can improve it is by the slope which means nearly all tanks will get a buff, or be reducing the normalization a bit for tanks. is it really that necessary? heavy tanks still dominate games last thing they need is more armour.

    4. WG said they are still thinking what HAVOK features they should make server side or leave it client side.

      Delete
    5. aside from the possibility of the smoke barrier, I see no other use for HAVOK server side
and possibly not even that, because on the server side it's only the calculation not the actual smoke cloud (barrier)

    2. I know, I made a habit of destroying them in the meager Tiger II.

Still, it's not like I'm going to reach another T10 any time this century at my rate of grind. Perhaps grinding nearly every single vehicle line, for every nation, ~2 years straight was a bad idea.

I think my next one will probably be the E-50, at this rate. 80-90k accumulated on that.

      Delete
    3. Yep armor wise the E-75 would be a way better Tier 10 tank ( with some more Hp and a gun buff of course)

      Delete
    4. If they threw in some completely fake turbine engine, slapped some kind of mechanical assist on the loader to increase the RoF, and perhaps 10-20 more mm of penetration, the E-75 would be completely capable at T10.

    5. The E-75M would not be completely unhistorical. Search the US forums for "weserhütte"

I can see why these changes will have to take 2 Months to get released aka in June that is, since a lot of stuff is getting changed, this will make the Big and Heavy Armored Tanks a lot more viable again if that's one of the changes aka the Maus, E-100, and the Super Heavily Armored TDs of the USA.

  15. "Nuclear" means uranium rounds for gold only?

As a long time WOT addict I am more and more growing tired of the direction in which this game is beeing developed. The huge dissapointment of the Leopard killed my last hope. The Leo Prototype is probably the worst piece of shit they ever introduced. It seems I will be finally free of this game. I try to keep my hopes for 8.6 as low as possible since every last patch was just a huge disappointment.

  19. I would love "arty view" on TD's. So you could shoot things not in your spotting range anymore, but it would require direct line of fire so it wouldnt be able to hit behind stuff or into cover. That would make sniper TD's like the JT a lot more useful.

    2. Well, it is still better than t57 gold ammos.

    3. And why do you consider that stupid ? It would give TD's a range advantage, just like most of them had in real too. Also it wouldnt degrade most TD's to assault guns which they arent, but would enable them to give covering fire while staying undetected. The whole concept of a TD.

      Delete
    4. u used the word "real", ur argument is invalid, it's an arcade game with average engagement on 200> meters.

      Delete
    5. With scaled engagements. Thats why it would be nice as an game element to be able to provide long range direct fire.

      Delete
    6. Dude, that *is* basically arty with lower arcs, you could use indirect fire over low cover. In fact, you can already loop shells over obstacles in 3rd person mode, as the camera is situated above the tank (this mostly works with low-velocity howitzers with tall arcs).

there will be different types of Spall Liner for tanks.
    +15%, 20%, 25% and 30% absorption.
the Maus, yeah, will be equippable with 30% variant.

and thats the smallest "plushka" for "Arty Phobiers".

  26. The best thing that WG could do with Arty (besides getting rid of it) is to lower its chances of achieving a first round hit! How many times has one sat in a supposedly sheltered position only to get ‘Nuked’ by the first round fired by some Scum Bag in an Arty? If on sits for long enough for the Scum bag to fire a second round, then one deserves to get ‘Nuked’.

But alas this will never happen!
