4.6.2013

- Zimmerit has no influence on normalisation in the game, like it didn't in real life (SS: no idea where this came from, why would anyone think Zimmerit had any influence. There was a "report" that Zimmerit coating caused fires, but the Germans tested it and came to the conclusion it's bullshit - sort of like WW2 urban legend)
- 3 tier MM spread (as it was before) won't return
- the "miniquest" task system, tested on public test (SS: a lot of folks ran into this - ridiculously high rewards for "nothing") will continue to be tested, it's a first glimpse of how the future will look
- there will be a new arty splash visual effect, experiments are running
- according to Storm, both the tanks with long aimtime but accurate guns and with short time but inaccurate guns will benefit from the accuracy changes roughly the same
- according to SerB, the tested (nerfed) Superpershing model is historically correct (SS: at this moment, it is not yet decided, whether SP gets nerfed or not)
- SerB doesn't play a set number of battles each day, sometimes he only plays double XP battles, sometimes he plays 30 battles per day
- WG won't apparently make anime series about tanks
- SerB has seen Girls und Panzer, according to SerB the tanks in the series are historically very correct
- according to SerB, the game was formed as a casual game, never intended for e-sports, that came later by itself
- apparently, SerB's answering of question is a part of his job (as in, he's not answering stupid questions voluntarily), the worst questions he encounters are: "when's the patch", "when will Type 59 be back in shops", "why do you secretly nerf tanks" and "why do Germans have to suffer"
- SerB on the topic of complaining officialy about him: "Well, since I am the vice-president of the company, you can only really complain to the board of directors. So, go to the company website and put your claims into an official letter. And as a result of your letter, I will definitely be fired for sure!" (SS: edited a bit to make better sense in English)
- the chance of Vickers tier 1 British tank being replaced by Mark V is very low, because there would be no point. Purely in theory an alternative tier 1 tank could be introduced, but the devs don't plan to do that
- SerB on why TD10 shells weren't penetration-nerfed: "It would make no sense to do especially that - if you nerf TD shells penetrations a bit, there will be no difference anyway. But TD's are TD's - next candidates to HATE!!!!!11111 after arties"
- British arty "special" thing will be very good gun traverse angles
- Panzer IX and X won't be introduced - they are the "Goebbels-tanks", desinformations posted in the Signal magazine, there were no projects such as this
- for now, the IS-2 with 122mm M62 gun won't be introduced, but at least one of the prototypes really existed
- SerB states that the tier 10 Japanese heavy won't be heavier than Maus, but he doesn't know yet about its dimensions, he states that a track of such a vehicle, around a meter wide, is situated in one of the Japanese museums
- WoT, WoWp and WoWs apparently won't have common credits (silver)
- multi-layered armor (with various steel types) could be introduced, but is not planned - according the SerB, the players are confused with penetration enough as it is
- HEAT shells lose only penetration on spaced armor, not damage
- SerB is generally satisfied with 0.8.6 test results, there will be a 2nd round though
- the British arty patch won't bring any other non-premium vehicles
- SerB states that the "there are no plans" statement doesn't mean that such a thing won't ever be implemented, because some things are simply done ad hoc, without planning
- SerB on Superpershing: "The thing is, Superpershing is not correctly implemented. It doesn't correspond to the real life vehicle. That's bad and we have to fix that. Type 59 does correspond to the real life tank, that's why it wasn't nerfed, but taken out of the store. We are prepared to have unhistorical stuff in the game in some cases, but this is really blatant."
- Storm states that the armor of IS-3 is correct, model will be fixed in 0.8.6
- artillery tracers won't be removed ("move after shooting or die")
- Argentinian branch of vehicles is planned (SS: now, that's interesting... I know of only two: Nahuel and the AMX-13 hybrid)
- Batchat 25t armor and speed won't be increased
- Q: "This game is getting boring, what exciting and new thing will you add?" A: "We have a great addon for the game. It's called 'real life' - try unlocking it, it helps. This is no joke - one cannot play the game forever, so in your case everything is absolutely normal."
- Jagdpanzer E-50/E-75 are post-war fakes, according to SerB (SS: well... partially. Jpz E-50 is a total fake, but there is a mention - only a mention, mind you - that some sort of TD project was planned on the E-75 hull. No details are known however, so any rendering or "plans" you might see on the web are pure fantasy)
- there are several more vehicles with autoloaders, that will possibly be introduced
- developers state that the WoT wiki can have wrong data
- the T-10 tank was considered for tier 10, but in the end, it was decided it's too underpowered for that

Yes and the JPZ E100, E50M, GW Tiger (P)
GW E100 are all real Projects haha :)

    1. Jagdpanzer E100 is a real project, yes. E-50M - weeeeeell... not real, but realistic. GW Tiger P is fake and so is GW E-100.

      Delete
    2. - JPz E-100 was discussed at length along with Jpz Maus.

      - E-50M is semi-realistic by pure chance, in reality it was the Weserhutte project.

      - Jpz E-75 is mentioned by Spielberger (and supposed to weight 80 tons)

      On the other side:

      - GW (P)is a complete misrepresentation, it was supposed to be a Brumbarr-like assault gun armed with a captured french heavy howitzer, 22cm L/9 or L/10.5

      - GW E is fantasy indeed, WG missed a few projects that could have acted as top arty or instead they could have split GW Panther in two as there were several possible choices

    3. Yeah, kinda lame there's Fake Tanks in World of Tanks... Though at least it isn't the P. 1000 Ratte or the Monster... And that's a good thing.

    4. If wargaming is going to invent tanks, at least invent cool ones (Jadg E75 sounds interesting to me, much more viable)

    8. Overlord trolled us with his fake tree already, the problem is Pasholok who loves to fake german tanks...

Karl-Gerat would be way too OP.
Now, the R2 would instead make a fine machine for WOT as tier X arty...

    9. I know it's OP but it would be even more fun that way :P and nobody could whine that it's not "historical"...

Go see the background of the stroy, the tanks they used are all just super-up-armoured replica.

    3. To elaborate: the tanks are inlaid with carbon armor. The rounds they use are Federation approved, low-penetration shells.
Inside every shell, there a chip, and inside every tank, there's a black box recording the kinetic force of each shot, thus calculating the penetration. If a 'penetration' to a vital spot is 'go' (eg. crew compartment), tank killed, flag pops up.

    13. Re: Historical accuracy of the GuP tanks

Oh dear, lots of contention here, as apparently the booklets that come with the Blu-Ray hint to extensive modding of tanks, mostly done in-universe by the US tanking scene. The models for the tanks are accurate though (except the Hetzer, which for some reason used the post-war Swiss variant), given the stipulation in th rules (no tank without a prototype, plan, or wasn't in actual production prior to the end of the war in the Pacific).

And yes, "accurate", in so far that these things have magic "carbon" armor that reduces kinetic damage and practically make the crew compartment invulnerable to anything up to a Maus sitting on a Hetzer (in fact, the fact that they were crazy enough to try the maneuver was BECAUSE of the carbon lining).

      Delete
    14. The post-war Swiss variant is the G-13, which is practically no different from the war variant (I think the only difference was the removed machinegun), because after the war, the Hetzer production simply continued as ST-I (some wartime Hetzers were in fact refitted and redesignated to ST-I's) and ST-I in turn was sold to Switzerland under the designation G-13. Still the same old vehicle.

    1. In earlier versions you could come into battles up to three tiers above/underneath your tier level. Meaning that a tier 7 tank could fight against a tier 10 tank, or, in another battle, against a tier 4 tank. This was changed for obvious reasons, so now you only have -2/+2 spread.

      Delete
    2. OK. I always though that the current system was called "3-tier", on account of only ever having 3 tiers in one game.

      Delete
    3. Pre-8.0, it was 4 tiers - tier 6 could see tier 10. KV vs IS-4 was always fun.

Way back, tiers 3-10 were all in the same pool, so even tier 3 could see tier 10.

  12. SerB on Superpershing: "The thing is, Superpershing is not correctly implemented. It doesn't correspond to the real life vehicle. That's bad and we have to fix that.

Yes, for example it had cannon that could compete with the 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun of the Tiger II.
    Why don't fix that than?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It could compete in muzzle velocity but penetration was not to 88/71 level due the US problem with properly hardened AP ammo tips.
US 105mm is also at level of 105/68 (~1000m/s V0), yet penetrates less, again due the problem with shells.
There are also other guns (mostly Soviet) that have crippled penetration due the fact they had problem with ammo quality.

  16. "- SerB on Superpershing: "The thing is, Superpershing is not correctly implemented. It doesn't correspond to the real life vehicle. That's bad and we have to fix that."

Then I hope you're prepared to make the tank fully historically-accurate. Unless the transmission couldn't handle both the more powerful engine and extra weight simultaneously (I'm assuming the Pershing's top engine is historical here), there's no reason to not upgrade that. And while you're at it, I've heard that the Pershing is using the gun that was actually developed for the Super Pershing.

If you're going to change things in the name of Historical Accuracy, you better make damn sure that it's actually historically accurate, otherwise you're going to have hordes of customers bitching up a storm; and rightfully so for the most part. They paid for the tank, and while it's in the EULA that things can and will change at any time, changing something they bought so that it no longer performs the sole function they bought it for (in the Super P's case mid-range trolling of average-accuracy guns) isn't right.

Guess it's a good thing I haven't gone and gotten a Super Pershing yet, as I was planning to. If this goes through with no changes to balance it, then I guess I'll be waiting until they introduce another tier 8 premium...none of the others really interest me all that much.

    1. You don't want a nerfed premium tank, but you may buy a premium tank in the future that may be nerfed later after you bought it. Logic fails again.
