    Seems it's had some nerfs compared to the supertest leak stats

    Hull traverse 38 -> 32
    Turret traverse 42 -> 36
    Rate of fire 16.67 -> 15.79
    Aim time 1.9 -> 2.3
    View range 360 -> 350

    1. The side armor numbers don't include the spaced armor. That's another 25 mm. The 20 mm of tracks also provide decent coverage, so the side armor of this thing is decent enough in total.

    2. I've seen it said that the tank was intended for hull-down fighting, and if that's so, then the armor profile makes sense and is probably historically accurate. Like above, the skirts and tracks add additional armor. Particularly if they've stuck with 13 degrees of gun declination that the supertest had, it should be very good at this role.

      Even if it's not historically accurate, it's there for balance reasons; 114mm of armor is a lot at tier 5, not even a fully-angled KV-1 can pull that much off, being able to angle it to increase that would be insane. 30mm side armor (50mm if you count the tracks; the skirt can be bypassed easily if shot from a frontal angle) ensures that you can't angle it more than AP normalization will cancel out.

      And...come on. 114mm of armor, with no frontal weak spots (aside from a VERY thin strip of top armor above the gun mantle and the heavily-sloped upper glacis)? It's enough to defeat common tier 5 guns like the L/48, ZIS-4 and twits running 105 HEAT. The M1A1 and Soviet 85mm will give you trouble, but aside from those and whatever TDs are slinging, you're golden.

      Throw in a decent gun, surprising mobility, good view range, and good tanky looks, and you have a pretty nice package.

    3. I could pen the front track no problem with the Churchill Mk III AP rounds (110 average pen) and dealt damage each time - so theres another frontal weakspot.

  11. I played an Excelsior on the test server. There weren't many small tier battles, so we got dumped into a 7v7 match. There was one other Excelsior on the enemy team. Both of the Excelsiors got one shotted by the new Soviet Tier V SPG, the SU-122A. It may have been two lucky shots, but that was enough to prove its worth to me. Can't see paying full price for a tank that only takes one arty shot to kill.

    I'm not saying I won't get an Excelsior for crew training, but it will have to go on sale before I do.
