17.5.2013

I removed the "E-100 armor schematics" post, because Crazytony0 screwed it up and I didn't doublecheck it before posting. Mea maxima culpa.

- Leopard 1 too weakly armored? "Don't play Leopard1" and "It was really nice to troll whiners, knowing the armor thickness of this oversized light tank"
- the solution to nerf gold ammo pen and to increase its price was accepted, because "we consider out approach to be correct"
- Q: "Since there are new (German) camos being introduced, haven't you thought about new inscriptions, such as 'Gott mit uns'?" A: "Yep. And 'Jedem das seine' and 'Arbeit macht Frei'"
- for now, there are no plans to change the upcoming Soviet tier 7 premium medium tank into something on tier 8
- details about the patch 0.8.6: "Wait for patchnotes"
- developers are not happy with the way the players communicate in game, it is planned to "educate younger players" (Q: "And do you have plans to educate children"? A: "Sure. Beating with belt and bread and water diet.") (SS: here, SerB is trolling, but he also says that parents are responsible for bringing up their children, it's not Wargaming's task to educate players to be polite)
- premium account won't be split into active and nonactive parts (SS: a player suggested a hour-based premium account)
- if you have an arty researched and it gets moved to another tier, both that arty and the arty it gets replaced with will be unlocked (but not given)
- British arty will come in one of the following patches after 0.8.6
- when you sell a tank with gold (permanent) camo, the amount of money you get for selling it will be the same as if it didn't have any camo at all
- the decision not to make an arty hardcap was taken because of the reluctance to introduce any hardcaps in general (SS: for those who still think it's bullshit, there is a post on EU forums about what can happen when hardcap goes wild...)
- Q: "Why is S-51 so expensive and it gets nerfed so hard?" A: "Want justice? Go to Hague tribunal."
- Q: "Why was the Chinese 121 medium tank pen nerfed in 0.8.6 supertest?" A: "We don't comment on rumors, leaks and other things causing butthurt."
- new methods of illegal mod detection won't be disclosed
- Storm will announce the artillery accuracy changes on monday (SS: funnily enough, Storm specifically denied WG will mess around with shell gaussian distribution for arty, so I really wonder what's going on)
- according to SerB, the KV-1S with 152mm howitzer is not historical, the pictures of KV-1S with a howitzer most likely show the version with a 122mm gun
- Although Leopard 1 is technically a MBT, it's very specific - other MBTs such as T-72 won't be introduced
- OF-40 and similiar tanks won't appear in WoT
- 0.8.6 will come roughly in 3-4 weeks from now
- Q: "Why is Jagdtiger not able to shoot enemies on 1 km distance as in real life?" A: "Want realism? Join the army."
- the L/70 on StuG III not having a muzzle brake is historical (SS: historically, there was indeed a L/70 project "Ausf.H" to arm StuG III with StuK 42. The superstructure however was quite different, "regular" StuG III (even Ausf.G) wouldn't be able to carry it).
- the "2S*" Soviet SPG's (SS: such as the 2S3 Akatsyia) won't appear in game
- dynamic objects on maps will be implemented ("when it's done it's done")
- there is no "biggest maps", 24 out of 34 maps have unified size: 1200x1200m
- there will be other Sherman modifications (models) introduced into the game
-  the small "bump" on the backside of the T-34 turret is a porthole for firing crew infantry weapons
- when the T-34 driver's hatch is closed (as in the game), the driver IRL cotrols the tank according to commander's directions
- the Japanese captured tanks in US tree have not been scrapped, they might appear eventually
- water has no influence on arty shell splash

    2. There is actually nothing wrong with "Gott mit uns" (God with us)--unless you're a 'former' communist tank-game designer who hates God. The phrase has been a battle cry since the Roman Empire, and has been used in Germanic military units for centuries. It was used on Wehrmacht belt buckles in both world wars--as opposed to those of the SS, which read, "Meine Ehre heißt Treue"--and by the Bundeswehr until the sixties. To equate it with phrases emblazoning gates of concentration camps, as SerB misleadingly does, is rank dishonesty.

Europeans are generally better educated than ruskies, so naturally they have much higher chances of knowing what SerB is talking about. Your glorious soviet motherland murdered more people than the nazis did, of course you didn't hear about that on your marxism-leninism lessons. Spanish and Portuguese killed more people during colonization of South America. Japanese or communist Chinese also killed more... You're clearly uneducated, stupid goy.

"Nobiscum deus ('God with us') was a battle cry of the late Roman Empire and of the Byzantine Empire, used for the first time in German by the Teutonic Order."

Only thing that could be the reason behind the decision to not put the inscription:

"During the Second World War Wehrmacht soldiers wore this slogan on their belt buckles, as opposed to members of the Waffen SS, who wore the motto Meine Ehre heißt Treue ('My honour is loyalty')."

I would understand if it were an SS motto but... I mean... if they are not going to use slogans wore by the Wehrmacht...

      Delete
    4. And also reduction of armor above the tracks (don't really know how to name the part), and while the reduction there is rather big it shouldn't affect the tank too much as you usually can't hit the tank there unless you are under it, it may however increase damage from arty splash.

      Delete
    5. "There is no nerf its a buff that fixes a bug in its armour scheme"

Since when armor reduction counts as buff? Part of side armor got reduced by 10 mm of armor. How is that a buff? They can penetrate you more easily.

      Delete
    6. Yea and according to panzerjournal the armor on the viewport gets a considerable armour buff. As for arty splash, well that will be non existent after 8.6 given the massive nerf incoming to them. Oh and by the way after 8.6 the e-100 will have one of the highest pen(334) gold shells in the game.

They might aswell have a bot answering the Q&A with random selections of When its done its done, When its done i will tell you, Want realism join the Army etc etc.

And then gems like the answer regarding "Gott mit uns"... dear Serb you are most likely a well educated man but History definatly is lacking.

"Gott mit uns" was used since 1701 by the Prussians and even long before that by the romans and others in different forms.

But i guess "Hagerer Schwarz" and other gems are better options to put on my tank...

and i think its the right way to keep inscriptions harmless. No political (like the former Stailinst) and no religious inscriptions.

and i also think Serbs trolling answer is not as stupid as it might look. If they start implementing those inscriptions, those retards would then ask for "Arbeit macht frei"...

    2. 'Gott mit uns' was used in 1701, but Germans used it in WW2 so bye! easy as that >.<.

for example the infamous 'Swastika', it was first used in 1400~~ish i believe, forgot XD, well, it had been used in lots of places and some religions..... but Germans used it ERASE IT FROM EVERYTHING!!!! hence why Gott mit uns, being religious and used by the nazis is not coming into the game, despite of how harmless it is :P

      Delete
    3. Actually, "Swastika" has been used by ancient Baltic pagans (since 700-600~ BC), as a Thunder or Fire cross, depends on which way it is facing, and is commonly used in traditional Lithuanian arts and crafts. However, A. Hitler turned it 45 degrees, and now nobody in the world can use it, lol.
      Not funny at all tbh...

    1. Your tier 8 SPGs will become tier 10s. You will automatically have the new tier 8s researched in your tech tree, but if you want them you will have to buy them. The write-up isn't entirely clear on whether the new tier 9s will also be automatically researched in your tech tree -- but my guess is that they will be.

    2. If you have every tier-8 arty, then you won't need to grind any more arty. Every arty line will be completely unlocked for you. If you want to buy any of the new lower-tier arty, you just need to have the required amount of credits.

  22. - the decision not to make an arty hardcap was taken because of the reluctance to introduce any hardcaps in general (SS: for those who still think it's bullshit, there is a post on EU forums about what can happen when hardcap goes wild...)

    ****

Bullcrap, the reason for hardcap was because there was too much arty around and people was not amused by the 13vs15 arty games... yep, there was on picture about it. If there indeed was so many arty players, how about taking into notice why there would be so many.

    A) Arty gains less exp per battle
    B) Arty has smaller battle tier spread on T6-8 than T8-10 tanks ( which they should be compared )
    C) T8 artys are not elite on the acquire

If people truly would have same exp requirement in relation to experience drop there would be less matches needed for artilleries to reach top tier.

Yes many think the temptation to drop nukes from sky will make them gods... but there is quite large difference in good and bad arty players for the very same temptation, illusion of being ultimate damage dealer. Having luck on one match is mitigated by the next five to ten fast. Just like ammo racking another tank on tight situation.

Hardcapping arty is just something WG did for not truly investigating what causes the hogging of arty even when it is the LEAST PLAYED CLASS <- Makes big difference actually while being true combined with B). Yeah it did bother to some degree being in in the great parties, but to introduce half assed hardcap, which is not even close in relation to player suggestions due to 'MM not able to hold onto such cap'.

The MM code is so old it can't hold onto the player amounts currently, it should be rewritten from scratch with current player treshold in mind.

Also SPG is only class which should not be main battle force due to low HP, no armor and for some bad mobility. It should always be limited because they are not in same category, they are pure support class with its pros and cons. In high numbers they are stagger the game due to their inability to fill tank spots which should be occupied. Capping them to 3 would keep them ever being force major, thus giving breathing room for tanks to actually tanking it around instead of fearing it for iron sky to open.

SPG differ from tanks, but in good way. Many players have become arty machines, because they still think there is only arty parties ( can still read comments about 6+ arty per side in battle as a reason to not play high tiers ) on high tier. It has became much less in number and there are currently many low amount and none matches on high tiers. But people have become so obsessed with having no arty that they want to deny the different playstyle they bring. It is more tactical and challenging to dodge the hidden, but innaccurate, but it can be done, beside the point.

Having artilleries stacked to 4-5 is reason for people to ignore playing T9-10 tanks, they remember half a year MM when there was too much arty, due hogging of A) and B) combination, it got worse and worse because of stupidity and stubborness of many.

Untill this got noted by WG and really tackled by its crude methods there was hidden problem, scouts... And soon it became evident when the first hardcap was made. Second was made soon after because this problem was unnoted until the change. Thus true valuation of problem got kick in the nuts, no real data was used and player expectations were not met, thus the first implementation brought new problem to the table.

Players have reluctancy of playing high tiers because there is nothing for them beyond absolute company and CW. This is real problem, skills are too far to achieve and require thousands of battles to achieve for fourth... very frustrative. Also the cost is a tad too high for the commoner, it is in my opinion that the cost should be lowered for both T9 and T10 tanks to run, but not touching T8 artilleries, there is no need on my opinion.

    1. continued:

WG should note that to fix the high tiers they need to make it appealing, and they should work on erasing the 'Too many arty' mentality and bring a reason to play high tiers. If I can achieve those 4th+ skills in reasonable games ( some 400-500 preferably ) there would be say a months playing for one tank to achieve a new skill for one tank. It would be like grinding something achievable. Currently it goes bollocks with the system of doubling the needed exp.

I play merely 5x with T10 nowadays... Or if there is good credit or crew gainage to be got, or just feel like it. There is nothing for me... grinding 3rd skills... unlocking 4th... takes just ages and is not of interest. Too long.

WG should wake up from competitions to core game... very limited amount plays in competitions, it does not gather the interest of players as in LoL or Starcraft... there is no real interest in high level play as the core game is grinding, not being the ultimate champion.

Gah, this is so long, but so many things just lead to another...

  23. - Q: "Since there are new (German) camos being introduced, haven't you thought about new inscriptions, such as 'Gott mit uns'?" A: "Yep. And 'Jedem das seine' and 'Arbeit macht Frei'"

I hate these typical phrases. "Gott mit uns" is not only used by the Wehrmacht. If they had visited the Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig, they have seen, that this phrase is written on that Grade

    1. Nobody gives too shits about fine definitions and subtleties of your village slogans. They just don't want to touch it with a stinking bargepole, just like that. Want to know why? then first try to learn why you are so universally disliked by pretty much everybody in Europe.

    2. Look guys, this soviet poorfag thinks he's "Europe"! Hahaha oh wow. Just because Germans are hated in your muddy hole in Ural doesn't mean they are hated in the civilized world.

    3. Indeed, and I think the commie ruskies are/were hated more than the germans.Unless the world is formed entirely of jews.

  24. Sorry, but the explanation why there can`t be an arty hardcap in that thread is just epic fail.

Might be true for the other game, but doesnt apply to WoT.
There is no natural counter for artys (only other artys).
Might be scouts are there as a counter, but they are not successful nor effective enough to justify their role as arty counter.

Sooner or later, the cap will come, when patch 0.8.6 dont drop the arty numbers. The only thing that can change that, is when arty gets completely overnerfed.

    1. I do not understand what they mean and I don't care.
Would be way more better if they just let us create our own - with moderation of curse words and meanings, of course.

    2. Well Arbeit macht Frei was the sign on the Auschwitz entrance, so I understand that that one is a no-no. But "Gott mit uns" doesn't seem at it isn't nacistic so I think that WG are just annoyed by the people who whine for those inscriptions..but i don't have any problems with them if they were introduced.

  26.
- the Japanese captured tanks in US tree have not been scrapped, they might appear eventually
Would someone care to explain this further? I've never heard of captured Japanese tanks being in the US tree before. Was this an old supertest project that got shelved a long time ago, and somebody finally thought to ask the devs about it? Or was this something else?

  27. Regarding "Gott mit uns", here is some of the background to how it was reintroduced in Germany. It was with Gustav VI Adolf aka "The Lion from the North". Enjoy
