27.3.2013

First: a screenie from mid March (courtesy of ITDUDE, US server) from an official WG movie, showing some interesting vehicles on the bottom bar:

Now some FaiLowe news

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/177028.html

(Storm made a post practically similiar to the European coming-out in wording earlier - hell, can EU server even write a post first?)

- according to Storm, the new vehicles (VK7201, M60 Patton, Object 907) are planned for summer, Storm states they will not be tied to the "expert" medals
- Q: "What remains is to pray that these vehicles aren't tied to clanwars" A: "Remains, yes"
(SS: if you are interested in Failowe history, here's an article)

Also, from Yuri Pasholok (source), a possible picture of new Soviet light tank destroyer, it was made in April-May 1942, based on the T-60 light tank (it's just a project, unclear whether it will ever appear in the game).

Regular translations:

Looks like SerB is in trollmood again

- there is a new Nvidia driver build released, it's being tested for WoT stability
- VK3601H won't be changed into a heavy in 8.5
- test server crews won't have multiple perks during tests
- maps aren't being converted to make arties' life easier
- free (undistributed) XP to crew XP transfer idea has been abandoned, because "it's not considered necessery"
- armor buff? "If needed - and we decide what's needed" (SS: this somehow reminds me of the old Czech movie quote: "We - the communist party - decide what's beautiful!" :) )
- SerB regarding the "elite players": "The elite can consider themselves the elite as much as they want, we don't care"
- rain, storm, snowfall, fog, night battles will be implemented
- Sexton stats (price etc.) are not yet completely decided
- Storm doesn't consider OpenGL to be interesting, WoWs won't support it
- World of Tanks Blitz and classic WoT are developed separately
- damaged suspension does not influence tank turning speed
- matchmaker considers the same map in regular mode and in (for example) assault mode to be two different maps
- the Chinese made a ripoff copy of World of Tanks - SerB reacts: "Copyright and right to copy are written the same in Chinese"
- ZIS-5 gun has different penetration on different tanks, because it's a different gun in each case (SS: there were more models, yes)
- KV-220 is named correctly according to WG (SS: some player suggests the correct name should be KV-220-2)
- SerB states that the rumor about the special artyzoom mod showing the enemy arty position after one shot is just a rumor
- the fact that the tank is turning its hull and its turret at the same time doesn't reduce the turret rotation speed
- the camouflage mechanics changes will affect all classes, it's not tied to the fact that the heavies on tier 10 are hard to play
- in alpha WoT, there was the idea to make the detection range (viewrange) better in the direction the driver/commander periscope is aiming at and worse in other directions, it was scrapped as counterintuitive
- minefields in CW are ATM only in idea stage
- improved garage tech filters will come most likely in autumn, the tank selection bar will be completely reworked

    1. Does this mean that they probably can only be used in CW as some kind of "loan tank" for successful clans?

  3. Strange those French tanks have orange text like premiums but the grant dosnt.

    1. Grant is most likely planned to be a part of the lend-lease ("commonwealth") branch

How this is counter intuitive? This seems like it would add a nice depth of gameplay.

    1. I agree. It only makes sense that the best viewrange is the direction of the main viewing equipment.

  5. 2c bis at tier 8? what are they going to do give it 4000hp?

    Funk yeah!

    - the Chinese made a ripoff copy of World of Tanks - SerB reacts: "Copyright and right to copy are written the same in Chinese".

At least there is night battles in it :D But overall - its just so funny to "WoT" for like - I dont know - old Java phones :D

    1. I don't think that's a copy.
I think that's a video from WoT Blitz...
Look at the maps and compare them with the screenies we already have.Do they fit?...in my case yeah.
Also...look how weird is the aiming. It's a different control type(touch screen pads).
If I'm wrong means that we can have weather effects and the players that did that video are idiots...according to how well they aim.

    2. That is a copy facebook game, not Blitz.

  7. - damaged suspension does not influence tank turning speed

then how come that when my extra fast light tank has both tracks yellow (without any other module or crew damage) it suddenly becomes sluggish (bleeding speed, greater turning radius)?

    1. autosuggestion

      Delete
    2. I meant to write another paragraph with "Oh and don't tell me it's an auto-suggestion because I thought yellow tracks do nothing, until I started playing some of the fastest tanks in the game a couple of month ago and every time my tracks are yellow it doesn't turn" but now I come to think it might be a coincidence and an effect of mounting a heavier cannon (500kg more makes a difference on those motorbikes).
Still, I learned not to trust SerB about game mechanics because he pulls half that crap out of his ass, and he happens to contradict other official WG materials, such as the penetration mechanics video tutorial.

    3. I doubt he understands the mechanics because I experience the same thing.

  8. I notice that when the 2 tracks are damaged, the tank turns much more slower, but when only one is damaged, it doesn't cause any difference

    1. My thoughts exactly (in the above comment from Mar 27, 2013, 3:36:00 PM), I swear I can feel the difference with yellow tracks (both, not one) on fast tanks.

  9. I wouldn't consider the M60 coming out an MBT since it will have the shitty M48 Turret it will be more than likely a slow twin if it was the M60A1 I'd say different but i don't think the Germans are the lone rangers anymore.

    1. One thing that I noticed the Chinese improved is critical hit info such as "Hit track", WOT really sucks in this regard - crew shouts all kinds of bullshit ("that had to hurt!", "critical hit!" etc.) and you're thinking you did 150 critical hits to a guy only to find in the debriefing that you didn't do shit. Well the "hit track" alone doesn't mean anything because you usually know you hit the track, but I applaud the general idea (disregarding it being fucked up in a traditional Chinese manner).

  11. - maps aren't being converted to make arties' life easier

But that's exactly what they did with the new rendering ... look at El halluf for example ... they turned great map into something even worse than south coast was ... most of reworked maps favour artys even more than before.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Arties have plenty of arty-friendly maps: El Halluf, Steppes, Fisherman's Bay, Sand River, Murovanka, Campinovka and so on. But that's the mentality - if the map gives your enemies some opportunities for clever hiding, you go cry to the devs to remove them. Why the hell are they dumbing down the Ruingberg... again?! Probably because noobish heavy tank (those who stay in one spot just clicking the mouse the whole round) drivers don't like small tanks hiding in the craters or other heavies hiding their lower plates. Or active scouts vanishing behind the ridge outside the city. Or whatever.

      Delete
    2. Actually it's the medium and light tank drivers that been whining how bumpy the terrain on newly rendered maps are, making it harder to manouver and keep up their speed.

      Delete
    3. Playing arty in El Halluf I can confirm that after remodelling it is much easier. On both sides they added two hills near bases which are perfect for artillery. From there you have much better possibilities to shoot, basicly the whole map is coverd. And remebmer that in top tiers there is usually 4-5 arty per team. Good luck heavies...

  15. 2C Bis - tier 8?? Oh my god.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah that can't be : you have a 155mm howitzer, no armor (22 to 45 mm), a maximum speed of 15km/h,...
A solution could be the version with 90mm front and 65mm on the sides tried in 1939(source: wikipedia). But it weighted 75 tons and with 2x250 hp motors that were used, I let you imagine the speed of such a thing...

      Delete
    2. Maybe it has faster reloading speed which make it par with others tier 8

    1. No, no. The FCM F1 is the tier 6 and the 2c is tier 4. They made a bad faux paus with the tier 8 2c bis though.

  21. -free (undistributed) XP to crew XP transfer idea has been abandoned, because "it's not considered necessery"

unless you pay for it, then it's OK.
    basically:
    1. use gold to train the crew to 100% (optional, but IIRC the crew has to be 100%).
    2. get a ton of XP on an elite tank.
    3. convert all that XP to free XP using gold.
    4. use that free XP to train skills on the crew you want.
    5. ???
    6. profit (for WG)

  22. Ech, I was afraid of this. It now seems likely that Wargaming is set on making most of the Commonwealth tanks (Australian AC-2 and AC-4, Canadian Ram II and Sexton) into premiums, with the British Grant I being shown as a non-premium tank in this garage picture. What we will possibly be seeing at some point in the future for the Firefly branch may look like this:

    [T2] M2A4 LL
[T3] Stuart I (or the Stuart VI)
    [T4] Grant I
    [T5] Sherman IIIA
    [T6] Sherman IC Hybrid

This is just going by what has been seen so far from garage icon leaks and some previously released shots of the Sherman III prior to the British release, but the screenshot above somewhat confirms this for me.

Shame. It would have been nice for the Aussies to have something on the research tree.
