Chinese TD by SerB

Source: wot-news.com

This is what SerB posted yesterday when asked about Chinese tank destroyers.

As you can see, it's a T-54 hull with some superstructure, the gun looks like something 100mm. According to wot-news, there is a high probability this will appear as T7 or T8 Chinese premium TD.

    1. I should explain a "nature" of this picture published by serb. In LJ World_of_RU a series of threads was started of about "luxury" tanks and in one of them was posted a few pictures from some war movie with kv-1 and ISU-152 made from T-54. Guy who posted those pictures mockingly asked to add those vehicles as premium because they are more historical then some of WG "designed" vehicles. From some point Serb showed up in this thread and said that IRL already similar vehicle existed and after that he posted that picture.

      Sorry for my engRish. =)

    2. So basically here is ZERO information about vehicle on that picture. WoT-news just suggested that vehicle will be premium. IMHO here is high probability that this vehicle will be in standard tech tree.

      Sorry for my engRish. =)

    4. But with bigger casemate and poorer sloped armor than the 122-44 at least.

    5. There is the tier 9 su-122-54. Although this will likely have different gun stats.

  2. Such a high profile...Lets hope the gun accuracy depression penetration and rof are good at least.

  3. Looks alot like the SU-122-44... but will be better I guess...?

Also Frank, do you know if you researched a tier 7 arty, will the tier 9 arty be researched in the next patch?

  4. Wow China has enough tank destroyers for a full TD line AND premiums?

    1. No, China has enough copies of russian tank destroyers for a full TD line and premiums.
Type(SU)-100, this tank above...and I bet there will be more copies or so called "remakes".

    2. Well if they have a copy of BL-10 I'll play their tree as well =)

  6. I am sure it will be an awesome td until they silently nerf it the next patch. Just like they have the other premiums

  7. I think it's not a 100 mm, but a 122 mm gun. It's look like an Is-8 M62 gun, with the muzzle brake of the Is-3 BL-9 gun.

    1. Compare the gun size to the T-54 hull

    2. lol, its definitely a 100mm gun

    3. Like the TD type of the chinese 100 mm 62-100T which is the top gun on the 110.

  8. Looks alot like 122 44?!
I guess that you forgot that there is a SU-122-54 in the game already, and that it has a selection from one 100mm gun and two 122 guns. So this would be probably like the stock 122 54.

  9. It's gun looks like the 100mm 62-100T

  10. Holla Frank,
did WG ever publish documents that show chinese armor layouts and weapon specifications?
Wanted to read about them but can not find much about chinese tanks
    on the net.

    1. No. But SerB mentioned he could write a book on the topic.

  11. type 59 is a cheap knock off t-54 and this TD is a cheap knock off out of type59 cheap knock off.

  12. So what if it's a knock off? Copying something out of someone could end in a better example of a tank. IE germans copying ideas from T-34 and coming up with the Panther.

    1. This is known as "development" or more exact "benchmarking". Germans were no stranger to sloped armour as well as the Soviets were no strangers to three man turrets (T-34/76 had two man turret but T-28 had three man turret, to T-34/85 this design flaw had been corrected).

  13. Tell me :how is bigger superstructure and lower caliber gun for increased crew comfort a ripoff of Russian design?

    1. Only thing inspired from t-34 at MAN Panther is the angled front.VK3001/2 DB was a fully t-34 inspiration, that's why it's production was refused.

    2. I am not confident that the similar design was the only reason after all you could argue that the T-34 is an upscaled variant of SOMUA S35 (French pre war design) to which the Germans had full access to.

    3. ar yu mad? T-34 upscale S35... WTF did yo smoked man?

  14. I find that people who lump Chinese tanks into "copies" or "knockoff" designs haven't played past the type 58. While the lower tier tanks are similar to their soviet counterparts the line starts to shine on its own around the 34-1 and suggest they play thru the line before making such generalizations

    1. Up to type 58 and IS-2 are other countries copies. From 59-16, t34-1and wz-110 are remodels of russian tanks.

59-16 and wz-131/2(aka type 62) are lightened variants of wz-120/121(aka type 59) which is an t-54 copy.

      WZ-110 is an IS-3 remake, WZ-111es are T-10(aka IS-8) remakes.

T-34-1/2 are improved t-34 hulls with t-54 style turrets...50%-50% remake.

Only "original" tank I find in that tree is the WZ-113.Even if it's inspired from IS series it has a original hull.

Now, tell me what you find "original in the tanks from type 58(t-34-85) and up?

  15. Does anyone have any idea of what to expect from the Chinese TD tree? I know the copy of the Soviet SU-100 is highly likely, but what about the rest? A link or a simple list for my own research would be nice.

PS: I hope they don't go through with an ISU copy.

    1. They will certainly do it, historically they received ISU-152s when the USSR retired from Dalian.

    2. I think then, for some variation, the chinese ISU's will recieve some chinese 100 and 122mm gun. I doubt they'll keep russian-made 152mm guns.

      Delete
    3. They will definetly have the 152mm derp as stock.
