21.5.2013

Wow, more gold. I am starting to get spoiled! Much appreciated, crazytony0 and and Feindfeuer - I really do appreciate your support. Thank you.

First, some more info from developers Zlobny and Marschig:

- Birch gun will be tier 4 and will have a rotary turret with 360 degree rotation
- the best gun for the Birch gun will be a tier 4 87mm gun
- tier 4 German arty won't have a fully traversable turret (35 degrees on each side apparently), it will be this vehicle (SS: yes, I know we all know that already, it's just a confirmation)

- Zlobny is hopeful to increase the vehicle drawing distance
- Zlobny doesn't know, whether the arty hardcap will be removed altogether in 8.6 or later (SS: confirmed by SerB to happen later), but the arty nerf is a preparation for its removal

Now, regular Q&A:

- according to Storm, guns getting accurate will make life a bit more difficult for heavy vehicles such as Tortoise and T95, but not that much, since even accurate guns won't make players less nooby
- player statistics will not be updated retroactively with the 33/50 percent XP buff in mind
- ramming crew casualities are influenced by armor and spaced armor screens, not by the part of the vehicle that gets rammed by itself

(SS: to explain - what matters is the armor thickness: if you ram a forward part of the tank, chance to make crew casualities is lower, because that part has thick armor. If there was some hypothetical tank, that has thick side armor and thin front armor, ramming the front part with thin armor would cause more casualities even though it's... you know... the front part).

    4. The mention of the donator certainly got me to donate myself, but not because I wanted to get mention, but because it showed me that SS would accept WoT gold donations and even seems happy about them.
And as his blog is my primary source for everything WoT, I'm more than happy to support him in some way, though I would've prefered if there was some kind of regular donation system in place, using paypal or credit cards or something like that, as he could use that to cover actual costs instead of having to spend it on internet tanks and planes.

    5. Id rather help him with flattr or paypal, or even helping him creating a real blog.

  2. I am starting to believe it would be a good idea to support Silenstalker in another way than donating WoT gold to him. He hardly plays WoT this times, if I remember correct.
I mean it's still a awesome gesture but isn't there a way to donate for our man in another way from which he profits more?

Just loud thinking. It's not my intention to offend someone.

Of course they can't retroactively increase your exp on exist Tds and SPGs, cause they were BSing from the very start.

    1. i also though the same (just look @ your top exp (in a td) and add 50%, and u see how ridiculous it is)

i think that Serb said (and ment) (and what failed during translation) is that TDs and SPGS gets a 33% and 50% less exp for dmg they deal.

1: so the exp gain for spotting, surviving, killing, cap/def and so on are all the same, just the exp gain for dmg is 33% and 50% lower

2: also, instead of 33% less (so current td exp + 50%) its probably something like 25% less (so current td exp + 33%)

assuming that about half the exp is gained from dmg, and u need to add 33% instead of 50%, it kinda makes sense, coz it means a TD his exp should be increase with 17-20%, 1k avg exp is very good for a td, and so is 1200 avg exp for a tank

  9. So derp guns are now snipers as well. Do the snipers and heavy tanks get anything to compensate? Nope.

    Replies
    1. Yes they do! if youve even bothered toread what the devs have said in the first place youll know that guns that were classed as accurate will be even more accurate.

More difficult as in how? Also why mention the 2 TD's I happen to have currently in my garage.

    1. As in more accurate guns = more hits to sensitive places (providing the players aim for those)

  11. It the amount of damage the attacking tank takes based on the raw thickness of the armor or the adjusted thickness based on the angle of the front plates?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Frank,

most people don't see the bad. Yes, the accurate guns get a little better. But, tanks are balanced around those guns with crippling handicaps. Now the tanks that have all the good stuff because their guns were not accurate, have it all. It is a small buff for say, the 50 M, a large buff for say, the T62. Almost all tanks now will be snipers. I would rather have a heavily armored, fast, sloped tank with camo, heavy DPM and alpha, then a big visible tank with mediocre DPM and protection (because it is a "sniper"). Mark my words, this will buff inaccurate tanks hugely compared to the "snipers".

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why do you think the T-62A will get a "large" buff, the accuracy is already borderline ridiculous. You literally cant make it a lot more accurate then it is right now.

On the other hand every 122mm+ gun will get much better (Read Heavies and TDs)

      Delete
    2. Simple numbers. A tank with a larger aiming circle will see a greater improvement in shot placement based on distance the shell is improved. So the worse the accuracy, the better the improvement. So the 62 gets a much larger improvement over the Leo for instance. And ya, the derpier guns get an even bigger improvement. This just equalizes the accuracy spread, which I think is a bad idea.

      Delete
    3. You clerly havent played the T-62A if you think it has big dispersion (I have tried the Leo 1) :D

      Delete
    4. Viktor,

Please just read and listen. I never said it had big dispersion, but it is larger than the Leo, so it gets a bigger buff. Really inaccurate tanks will get a really big buff. It is not rocket science.

      Delete
  13. Imagine if the devs went ahead and buffed all tanks' speed. Already fast tanks got +3 kph, really slow tanks got +20 kph. Which tank gets stronger, the Leo, or the Maus? Sure, the Leo gets a hair better, but the Maus becomes a monster.

That is a good comparison to the accuracy buff.

  14. 0.8.6: Rise of The IS-6

    Its coming, its coming.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually, since IS-6 is already the best tier 8 prem, the patch should be called:

0.8.6: Go Play Russian Tanks, Because SerB Said So.

      Delete
    2. On the other hand, it will become a lot easier to hit the IS-6's turret roof, which seems like its as miserably under armored as the IS-3's turret roof.

      Delete
    3. Pub scrubs don't purposely aim for turret, Unicums would just load gold, so this would only affect you at short range hulldown, which is something Is6s should avoid to begin with.

      Delete
    4. I prefer to see this as The Rise of The Tog.

No weakspots, because all of it is one, and so big no one can fail to hit it with the current accuracy

      Delete
  15. Carbon hit it. Tanks already good, but a little limited by accuracy will be absolute terrors. The Lowe is not going to gain any real benefit, for instance. Want a sniper IS-6 on your team, or a sniper Lowe? Remember when the Lowe was balanced around that supremely accurate 10.5? Ya, about that....

    1. Its more of a matter that unlike most heavies, Is6 is not really affected by the accuracy buff of other tanks at all, since its frontal plate is pretty much a 200mm effective diceroller that has nothing to do with enemies hitting the "right spot" but rather depending on whether RNG god decide the penetration of a shot is above or below 200.

      Delete
    2. The driver's hatch is 10% thinner though, and will be much easier to hit at medium range.

      -Platypusbill

      Delete
    3. The drivers hatch already has no armor to begin with, i kind of fail to see the difference between 60mm of effective armor to 50mm of effective armor when everyone is flinging at least 175mm pen

      Delete
  16. Right, so a tank that is tough and has a bunch of good qualities, just gets better, while the advantage a sniper tank gets won't really help it much. This will happen with other match ups as well. Even tanks with well known weak spots but powerful, less accurate guns will gain more of an advantage because they can engage at longer ranges when needed. It will be subtle, but the power shifts a little bit more away from the sniper balanced tanks. Then they reduce pen a tiny bit, and people think fat armored tanks will suddenly become unstoppable, but increase the ability to hit the large weak spots? Accurate guns won't improve nearly as much is all, not enough to really make a difference for them.

  17. Wait, I don't understand, what is the tier 4 German SPG actually?
By the screenshot from WG, the tier 4 German SPG have 6 road wheels each side, but the picture up their shows a vehicle with 8 road wheels.
Isn't the Pz.Sfl.IVb based on a shorten Pz.IV chassis? Or there was a prototype based on a regular Pz.IV actually built?

Could someone explain what arty nerf is happening? The accuracy increase per number is counteracting the increase in the accuracy numbers. Is there something else happening to make them weaker?
