Alright, today I decided to have one quick battle during the break I took - and something strange happened. I'm driving to attack the StuG and suddenly, I am driving in the opposite direction, the tank just turns around (and shows the surprised StuG its backside). If the StuG was a derp, I'd be so dead.
There was no lag, nothing. Is this some physics bug?
Replay (it happens at exactly 8:00):
the only weird thing that happened to me is that the tank aimes to random directions in 1 battle
ReplyDeleteits a somewhat kown occurance. often featured in the RNG videos of the official wot channel on youtube.

Well, this is the first time I ran into it I guess. I suppose I should watch videos often then :)
Deletenever happened to me either but its somewhat standard on RNG :/ if i was working in a company i would try to fix it rather than promote it but who the heck em i anyway to WG :D

The spirit of Thatcher is already loose and causing havok
ReplyDeleteMate, she's been doing that for the last 30 years, ruining all with simply her gaze.
DeleteI have seen this before in a replay on youtube. I agree, must be some kind of physics bug. But a cool one, anyway... :-)

You just meet Jedi stug driver..
ReplyDeleteStill funny bug :P
strange "lag" effects have been happening a lot to me lately, i made a post about and was told to "stop whining"... utter UTTER Morons on EU forums i swear to it!!

I think that a sudden change in the adhesion of two different tracks, and then the server could not understand what it means. Or not ...
ReplyDeleteCould you also upload it on Youtube, SilentStalker? I am kinda allergic to downloading replays.
ReplyDeleteAnd for more herping and derping in WoT, I recommend these vids:

(not mine)
Yep, there are some miraculous powers lurking in the WoT landscape. Once I was speeding with my E-50 down the hill on Malinowka, when some hideous force grasped my tank, and sent the 60 ton medium flying all over the map. Landed near the base, wrecked ofc. But received some "wow", and "good stunts" from the surprised enemy, so I guess the show was worthy of the 20K repair bill :-)
ReplyDeleteKinda reminds the japanese ammo depot explosion that sent one Sherman from the island directly back to LST (from some M. Hubáček book, "Filipines" or "Pacific offensive" if remembered correctly.). The distance was smthing like 250 meters, and one crewmember survived, although severely wounded.
Physics glitch. Already happened to me in T71. Watch some of these youtube videos from RU server. It happens quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt happend to me also....was driving up hill on Himmelsdorf in my E5.All of a sudden i did 180 degre turn in spilt second and was ramming my platoon mate downhill

Random Movement Generator! Working as Intended
ReplyDeleteProbably a well known video:

1:51 - VK30.01 (P) vs. KV-1. The same happens
I experienced one similar bug in my Type59 once. I tiped D for a minimal turn, and my Tank turned about 270° degrees. Luckily no enemy saw me at that moment, Types exposed side is not known for it's armour...

I was in a match yesterday in which an enemy Panther appeared on the roof of a two-story building.
ReplyDeleteHappened to me once with Caernavron on Ensk, I think I was standing still... and suddenly I was showing left/back side to the enemy.
ReplyDeleteI have more more disturbing problem with the game than this one.
ReplyDeleteEnemy tanks "lag".I see everything happening on screen in time but enemy tanks.Even when they are 10 meters away from me.I see tree falling 100m away but not the tank hitting it.Or my tanks stops suddenly in open field taking (ramming) damage but I see nothing in front of it.After some time it appears to be enemy tank.
"Lag" is usually between 2 and 10 seconds. When I am one-on-one with enemies I spot them behind cover after they fired (and retreated).
As I said only enemy tanks lag (and sometimes firing animation - my tanks "fires" in cover 2 - 3 seconds after real shot).
Ping is about 70 - 100 ms and fps is from 20 to 50.
One more time, "lag" is not general,I see destroyed objects (trees,fences,houses...) in time, but only enemy tanks appear on screen 2 to 10 seconds later than they should.
Actually tanks can fly. Especially germans. We tried it, e100, e75, tiger etc can pretty good fly. Also there is a video like wot fun in youtube, ill link it in once im home.

ReplyDeleteIt's a known issue with the latency code that is still being worked on. It's related to the same core cause of the spinning tanks if you're rubbing against someone (usually trying to block a TD from getting its gun around).
ReplyDeleteAt it core is the fact that WoT currently accepts a movement command before checking if you can actually move, or move to where that would take you. As a result, if you get a lag spike, the game will move you someplace you can't be before finishing that check and realizing you can't be there. Two objects can not exist in the same space, and so weirdness results as it separates them.
The 8.5 notes already show the next step in fixing this. The game now will check for ability to move before trying to move you someplace (this is related to the fix of losing camo and binocs after trying to move while tracked or engined).
I had something similar happen to me with WZ-132, I was passive scouting on middle of Lakeville. When I got spotted, I pressed back and tank instantly turned 90 degrees ... I almost plumed into the lake :D
ReplyDeleteI just suffered the same at Mines. I drove my SU 101, took the hill and opened fire at an enemy T29. He returned fire and suddenly my vehicle instantly turned around for 180°.
ReplyDeleteI was not very amused about that.^^
