18.4.2013

- the "non-existing" modules, mentioned in 8.5 patchnotes are in fact modules we already have, that have been renamed (SS: some of them were, I think it's some engines, can't remember)
- the bigger amount of shells in ammo rack does not increase the tank's chance to be ammoracked (SS: related to the question, whether increasing the shell amount for E-100 does increase its chance to be ammoracked - it doesn't)
- tanks having the 5TD engine series will not be implemented (SS: it's a high-power diesel engines installed into the T-64 and some prototypes, which we won't see)
- according to Storm, Kniepkamp suspension did allowed relatively accurate fire on the move on flat surface and while going slowly
- E-100 ammorack size won't be increased
- the new "split" tank numbers (SS: VK3002DB ---> VK30.02(D) for example) are done according to Doyle's Panzer Tracts (SS: PT are the ultimate source on anything German)
- apparently, the base ring size won't be reduced
- there is a WG employee who watches not only tank statistics, but also changes in the way they are played, this is completely independent on any player feedback, such changes can trigger a rebalance
- the damage changes in lowtier Soviet guns are not connected with the promised Soviet tank gun rebalance
- there will be an Encounter on Prokhorovka map in 8.5, it was forgotten in the patchnotes
- KV-5 is doing fine statistically
- MBT-70 will not appear, it's too modern

  2. "PT are the ultimate source on anything German" sounds like lazy employees to me ;).
I like the KPz 70, but the mess with the german/US version sounds very confusing. :/

    1. No...they seriously are the most authoritative source on German tanks...

Does this guy only works on mondays every second week?

also, wg did another 83mm style fuck up, tough they were fast to correct it this time (some kv3 engine)

Is it me, or are they asking this exact same question every 3 weeks?

  5. >there will be a meeting engagement on Prokhorovka map in 8.5, it was forgotten in the patchnotes

I'm guessing this actually means they're adding the Encounter battle mode to Prokhorovka?

    2. Let's hope it'll work better than Assault did..

    3. Encouter on Prochorovka? I'm guessing the capzone will be on the hill or the village below it...so it might end up just like standard battle where no lemming train/camp fest is in progress on the forest side :)

However, played a few games on the 0.8.5 test server on Malinovka and they added some rocks here and there :)

    4. Actually is there any website/blog showing comparision on the changed maps? It always confuses me when they say they changed a map in some way, but I prefer to see some nice comparision to learn the changes before I play on the map.

That's nice - something new to try out.

    - KV-5 is doing fine statistically.
Of course it does - because I play with it :D Only tank in which you can do antics and keep on rocking.
But buff to 175 pen would be nice - then them dreadnoughts will be even harder to stop.

  7. MBT 70 from date it should fit in WoT, even the prototypes, but why they only say it is too modern ? that is overall not a real reason to say why those tanks wont come ingame to be honest. If they would give an example or compare it with other tanks , it should be ok .

    1. Primarily, there's the armament. That weird 152 gun/launcher or a 120 smoothbore have been declared definite KO criteria in the past.

    2. The devs only care about one thing, tech. Doesn't really matter what year it was if the tech is too advanced it is simply to advanced. Full end stop right there.

    3. Yes. There used to be a time when they just gave 1960 as a sharp boundary, but that one was watered down with the (in)famous Type 59 and eventually phased out completely.
It would be cool if they disclosed their current criteria (beyond the known smoothbore point) but I guess it's as much case-by-case as anything.

    4. No gun/launchers, no smoothbore - this is the rules.

    5. The MBT 70 had the armor level of the current T10 heavies while having a 120mm smoothbore/152mm launcher. And if this is not enough, it had 69 km/h top speed with an 1500 hp engine while being about 50 tonnes. It was faster than a Leo1. It's hardly fits tier 12. It has no place in wot.
(And there would be a lot of argument about wich nation should get it: US or Germany)

The Type's dating is kinda irrelevant given that it's little more than a copy of the ~'45 vintage T-54/55 you know... more or less the same story with most of the whole Chinese tree. Regardless of their actual date most of the lot are derivations from or further evolutions of *much* older stuff which renders the chronology rather moot.

    7. Honestly were is the problem ? I mean they tier 9 batarty is fantasy aswell, like T28 Prot for example so they just can give that tank a 120mm from the E5 or a different gun . As i said before i dont really care about this tank, but good western stuff wont come in , or it is cut down to some point were it is useless tbh .

      AMX 50B 1200 HP, 65km/h ~50tons+-

    8. The only fantasy bit about the 50B is the Maybach 295 actually delivering the wildly optimistic ~Ahnenerbe<3Magic~ 1200hp (as in the high-tier German tanks) which it never managed IRL. Also I seem to be managing pretty well already in the Tier 9 version already *without* the 120mm, so "useless" my foot.

      And the Bat. Chat. 155?

  8. Just played encounter on Prokhorovka. The base is indeed in the village, and there are 2 spawns for each side in the valley (top left and bottom left corners). It was rather fast paced, because in 30 seconds there were 3 people already on the flag, so everyone who wanted to go uphill, had to rush to the village.

  10. WG screwed the pooch on the MBT-70/KpZ-70 .. it could have been a unique tank in the sense that each country would have the same tank but with different main guns, engines (with close stats), and camo patterns. There were mild steel hulls made, there was no guidance systems or overly advanced optics, and a standard type radio of the period as seen on the M60 Patton tank. Having that tank available would have easily made an argument to provide the Soviet tree a like-era tank, the Object-279. That's 3 of the 6 national trees taken care of right there. =/

  12. What are they doing to Russian guns?

    ReplyDelete

    1. They will be eventually brought up to the Chinese parameters.

      Delete
    2. So first the premium copies get boosted cause they should be on same level as the Chinese normal Tanks. Well ok can agree with that point, and now they want to change UDSSR Tanks on same level as the copy tanks are ?

I mean today you have export versions and some nations just improve the tanks for themselfs , so they can be better then the actual product they bought before. ( Leopard C1 for example )
