14.4.2013

- WoWp had the popular 1024*768 resolution removed, it will however stay in WoT
- game balance (tank winrates) is analysed after every patch
- the fate of GW Panther (whether it will move or not) will be announced later
- no alternative medium tank branches will come in near patches
- trophy (captured) tanks will come in very far future
- Q: "Storm, in the recent ASAP videos you appear every time wearing the same sweater. Does it have anything to do with the gold shells for credits introduction?" A: "Definitely! 'We need more gold'(c) Our sales are not enough to buy a second sweater..."
- Storm states that the issue with Nvidia cards is not yet solved
- Leopard 1's shell ejector mechanism does not influence its camo factor
- T28 Prototype ingame was based on this sketch:

No other pictures or drawings exist, it was made from scratch by Wargaming. (SS: There however exists a wooden model - it was discovered apparently after the T28 Prototype was introduced into the game.)
- there will be no free tanks in 0.8.6 (eg. if you have a tier 8 artillery, it will get moved to tier 10, but you will not get its new T8 replacement also). Its replacement however will be unlocked.
- Storm states there were no Löwe changes and calls a player saying Löwe was ninjanerfed a liar
- SerB and Storm on Löwe ninjanerf player claims: "If there was a poll 500 years ago about the shape of the Earth, the winning answer would be that it's flat" and "Many say there are UFO's, but have no proof, just like you don't."
- the total amount of experience needed to level up a tier 10 arty from tier 1 will be roughly the same as it currently costs to level up a tier 8 arty
- destroyable bushes (as an equivalent to trees that can be brought down) are not planned
- in time, small destructable objects (fences, shacks etc.) will allow AP and APCR shells to pass thru them
- according to Storm, Maus is unpopular because it's slow
- some "people with very high reputation" claim GW Elefant (new German arty) is a Wargaming fake. WG will "tell everything later"
- the minimum thickness for spaced armor plates to be implemented into WoT is 10mm, thinner armor plates won't be modelled
- apparently Storm is aware that the T-44 turret is unhistorical (wrong designation), doesn't consider it important ("what a horror...")
- British second TD branch will not come this year, nor will any other British TD vehicles be introduced
- according to devs, ammorack explosions of 7,92mm - 12,7mm shells are okay
- according to devs,  there is no need to buff IS-7
- TD experience gain might be rebalanced (for them to get more XP from battles), "no comment so far"
- apparently the T-50-2 will not be removed from the game
- King Tiger maximum speed won't be buffed
- SS: now, this is something I don't understand fully, but apparently, there is a new CW mechanism/event in the making with provinces controlled by NPC's (sorry, no idea what this means)
- point limit change for various tier companies is not planned
- Hellcat won't recieve a 105mm howitzer ("We don't consider it necessery") (SS: but the 105mm Hellcat designated T88 is still planned for WoT)
- for now, new perks are not planned, but the whole perk mechanism will be reviewed, new ones might come eventually
- there might be a special "Sorry" quick command implemented
- special (in-battle) help for stuck tanks will not be implemented, as after the physics introduction such cases have become very rare
- devs won't implement a stat reset after 100-300 battles
- generally Storm considers the calling for old maps (pre-rework) to be brought back a nostalgia, people are lazy to learn new things
- there is no coefficient, that would award credits for damage done based on what shell was used
- new Nvidia drivers still have the bug, where the game says "Not enough experience" and crashes, when you open a techtree branch, the devs are trying to solve it

Well, that's unlucky. I remember when USSR got second HT line, you could get few tanks for free. Not to mention US HT line changes and free T8 premium + new T9 HT for everyone who had T34 in their garage.

    1. Actually, I understand not giving away T8 arties, when the current ones go up to T10.

However, what's going to happen to T4 and T6 arties(that people use in TCs)? Will they have to rebuy them, if they move tiers?

    2. Komarin was awful. And 90% of players was saying like that, now everybody seems to forget all those campfests and whining about the map. Still, I hope that with the re-introduction the map will become better

      Delete
    3. Weird lad. Komarin was a terrible, terrible campfest and Swamp only marginally better (plus an arty shooting range). Far as I'm concerned those critters should be burned and the remnants buried at crossroads at midnight - and I wouldn't mind if Province and Highway were thrown into the same grave (for much the same reasons).

I'm 99% sure what he means is they updated maps and are not going to re-introduce the old versions of those maps. I don't think this has anything to do with Komarin or Swamp at all....

    6. Kamperin usually turned into Der Sitzkrieg around the bridges and the middle, with the battle going for whoever had deeper reserves of patience and/or more competent arty.

Swamp was largely the same thing, except the chokepoints were primarily around the two villages - trying to cross the middle tended to be suicidal unless the other team were complete idiots.

Dragon Ridge is plain horrible for just about all the less-mobile vehicles (there's sort of a reason the Chinese themselves devised a whole family of "light battle tanks" to operate in that kind of geography), but I actually consider it a lesser evil than Highway which is kind of like old Swamp except with less arty cover and kinda imba for the NE team.

And don't get me started on Serene Coast...

    3. The German documents were the only ones to say 38 km/h. All actual testing by both the US and Soviet Union showed that the top speed was much less.

Plus, regardless of maximum top speed we still have the KT going at twice the speed of its cross-country capabilities. That's more of a buff than anything. Would you rather have a nominal higher speed without the engine to get to that speed?

      Delete
    5. 38 km/h was a theoretical max. speed. However, going above ~30km/h stressed transmission too much, and crews were instructed never to breach that limit unless absolutely necessary. Breakdowns were basically guaranteed otherwise, and then there was a problem of hauling 70 ton vehicle...So, WG made a right decision in this case.

      @Kankou
All vehicles use top rated (road) speed. Suits the fast paced style of game.

      Delete
    7. T28 and T95 are the same thing. What we have ingame as T28 should look like T95, just without external pair of tracks, but yet ingame T28 has some kind of upper and lower frontal plate, where only gun mantles should be (like in T95). T28 Prot. in its current ingame state is a completely made up vehicle.

    8. And about Tiger II. I don't have access to any more sophisticated sources, but Wikipedia (en, ru and pl) states that 35-38 kph was maximum sustainable speed, and 41,5 was maximum achieveable speed, that might have caused serious damage to the tank.

Thats hard to believe, the whole reason the T-50-2 was being replaced, was because it wasn't historical at all; the IRL prototype would've been much slower, and hard to manoeuvre.

This was said by SerB in a 'ASAP', on T-50-2 removal. 4min:17sec

For instance, the T-62A- extremely popular in Russia, so it's the first tier X for a lot of players (read: it has statistically more newbs than most tier Xs) so it underperforms compared to just how good it is. And some tanks aren't noob friendly enough to let most players make use of their potential.

Same story with the old KV, T-54 prior to being meganerfed, etc.

So, it's ok to make USSR tanks OP, and buff them, for the sake of historical accuracy, while Germans are nerfed because of "balance" (yeah, like they were OP...), and when we ask for historical buffs (Tiger H should also have a higher speed), we get idiotic trolling/answers I generally hear from 10 year olds.

If I look through the Soviet tree, there are so many historically innacurate tanks, like the T-50-2, whose RL maneouvreability was nothing like what we have ingame.

I can't wait for WT to get tanks, they'll surely take away half of WoT's player base. Why? They don't make up fake stats/tanks, they listen to player suggestions, the bias is n't as much as in WoT, and things there are actually historical.

    6. "Also get used to be oneshoted." Being onshoted is realistic, in fact, If a tank gets hit once (penetrated) by a significantly powerful gun, it will catch fire and burn to death, wot wound be much better if all tanks had less hp and there was no gold shells, either you bounce or you die or get badly crippled (one or two crew dead and a few modules too). I would like to play that game.

For the airplanes, the actually survive better, because the guns used have less caliber, so you actuality have to hit a weakspot or hit several times to destroy something.

    1. It's still the best-armoured T10, genius. Rather undergunned however and the pitiful maneuverability doesn't help one bit (not to mention making it an excellent arty target).

A decently handled Churchill III *will* kill a KV-1 up close (though it'll be on the brink of death afterwards) and the T-150 isn't actually all that much better off given that it can run into up to Tier 8 opponents (been there, was actually useful for the team), plus both have the agility of an ingot of pig iron - but they pack competitive guns for their tiers so they get by.
      Not so the Mouse.

      Delete
    2. The Maus is unpopular because WG made gold ammo available to everyone thus defeating it's only virtue AND made the tank even more horrible with the physics patch. It's is garbage now, just a distraction, used as a barely mobile road block to be parked where they want it blown up to slow down the enemy team. It's the same concept of scuttling a bridge.

      Delete
    3. Because it wouldn't be quite vulnerable to any number of high-tier guns even without their users going gold amirite?

For something that's supposed to be a heavily armored slug the T-150 moves exceptionally well.

Even if it was really slow the guy's point would still be crap. The T-150 isn't even that common of a tier 6 tank. For that matter the tanks in the IS-4 line in general don't seem that popular.

      Delete
    7. I either have or used to have all the tanks listed, and allow me to ask you to stop bullshitting me because the only one of the lot with poorer mobility is the KV-3 - I've nicknamed mine the "Ural Steel Block" - which is kind of a given when you look at the weight diff.
The T-150 can reach fairly decent speeds (in practice ~30km/h) on long, straight and level but good Lord nobody's going to confuse it with *nimble* as the thing turns like a truck.

Not seeing how the popularity or lack thereof of that branch is relevant here, the point was that "cumbersome turtle" works fairly well so long it has 'nuff gun to actually return fire when people start pounding on it. Noted that with the T28 Proto too once I got the second gun on it.

It'll be a good warm up for when they're unemployed and sucking dick on street corners in mis-matched wind breaker jump suits.

    1. Are you a repeat customer of such people? Sure seem to be familiar with the profession, and you kinda sound like one of those really annoying guys who feels the world owes it to him to make him feel all important and shit... :V

Personally I kinda like their "screw you too" attitude, it's a nice change of pace from the usual vapid ass-kissing that customer service and public relations has mostly devolved nowadays. Might be different if I had to deal with that kind of service culture in daily life but I don't so.

(Oh, and Internet Tough Guy alert - run for the hills!)

    2. @TheVoiceOfReason...hahhahahahahahahhhahaha ! The most UN-reasonable attitude. Like your irony.
(You were being ironic rather than being an actual crazed teen who's locked in a trailer because you missed your prescribed methadone shot, right?)

  19. - the total amount of experience needed to level up a tier 10 arty from tier 1 will be roughly the same as it currently costs to level up a tier 8 arty

No fucking wonder T10 is filled with T8 arties. What kind of drunk shithead made that decision regarding the same XP required for arties?....

  20. "- SS: now, this is something I don't understand fully, but apparently, there is a new CW mechanism/event in the making with provinces controlled by NPC's (sorry, no idea what this means)"

[NPC] is the "clan" that controls the provinces of a newly added region on the CW map. This has happened when they introduced West Africa on the EU server.

    1. So, what does that mean then? New clanwars provinces?

    2. Either that or they are introducing bot tanks/defences to fight against.

      Aenaes.

    3. I'm guessing that its a rebellion system in which a province will rebel and be controlled by nobody

not if you already came up to tier VII : troll :

    - in time, small destructable objects (fences, shacks etc.) will allow AP and APCR shells to pass thru them

fantastic! I always got bored when I think about how someone survived while hiding behind a thing little brick wall..

    - there might be a special "Sorry" quick command implemented

give some trolls more things to troll with

  23. - there will be no free tanks in 0.8.6 (eg. if you have a tier 8 artillery, it will get moved to tier 10, but you will not get its new T8 replacement also). Its replacement however will be unlocked.

OK, Just so I get this straight. With 8.6 we will have:
    1. Tier 8 Arty goes to Tier 10.
    2. Replacement at Tier 8 is unlocked, but not replaced.
    3. The new Tier 9 Arty will have to be ground out and researched.

My Question is can we start grinding the EXP now on our Tier 8 Arty and will it remain at Tier 8 when the patch hits?
I would like to get a head start.

By the way, I think you are going to see a shitload of Tier 8 Arty until 8.6 hits. Just in case.
    I know I will be....
