12.3.2013

- flight speed of 183mm Object 261 AP shell and 203mm Object 212 HE shell are nearly identical, that however does not mean their trajectories are automatically the same
- crew icons and pictures (uniforms) won't be based on the tank era (eg. Bunderswehr Leopard crew will still be using Wehrmacht uniforms)
- the mound of dirt that gets the tanks stuck apparently won't be fixed ("takes a real talent to be able to get stuck anywhere, against such a talent we are powerless")
- independent suspension is already tested internally
- KV-5 depression is historical
- T30 has no turret counterweight "for historical reasons" (unlike T34)
- destroyed tank hulls on maps might be movable in distant future
- each shell (bullet) in game counts as a separate object with its trajectory being calculated in 0.1s intervals, not just as a graphical effect of a pre-calculated trajectory. Therefore the Panzer I Ausf.C machinegun does put more stress on the server than regular cannons (due to the amount of ammo it dishes out), but it's manageable
- SerB states they work on tank stats only when they have nothing better to do, the game is for masses, not for statistics
- ramming mechanics rework? "if necessery - for now I don't see the necessity"
- HEAT shells don't ricochet because the devs didn't consider it necessery
- regarding the Japanese supertank: SerB states Maus and E-100 can call him "bro"
- Italian tanks weren't projected with 4 tracks (2x doubletracks) for too long (such as the GL-4 monster), SerB will check what kind of caliber would this project carry
- E-75 and E-100 armor is historical and it is modelled according to Wargaming's sources

  1. Did post this post (12.3.2013) in the forum. Any issues Silentstalker? No leaks are included in any way and I cannot post the link. All links that direct to your blog are removed by the mods because they contain these supertest leaks.

Creating another blog just with the russian answers may be a little too much though.

    1. I'd actually prefer it it wasn't blindly copied on the forum. Obviously I can't stop it in any way, but it would be nice if people actually kept comming here for the info.

    2. Sadly I am not capable of posting any links to your post because they contain these supertest leaks. All links to your blog were removed. Which means, that no one is capable to go to your blog unless they know the link (and faved it).

Which may mean by extension, that no one can read these russian answers now because they don't know where to read it. So I posted it over there so that everyone in the forum can read it, as usual.

Also, I am not sure if WG-critical posts in your blog were one factor of your ban.

    4. He just said that he would prefer not to copy-paste his blog into forum. Do you want him to tell you this twice before you will respect that?

  2. What is mean by "turret counterweight"?
And to the japanese superheavy, well, that sounds to me like "it will be already obsolete" :/
    Oh, and WG's "historical sources" >insert trollface here< ;)

    1. Basically: a gun is heavy. In order to balance the weight so the turret mechanism doesn't get stresset too much, a counterweight is installed on the backside of the turret.

      Delete
    2. I was just confused, because I didn't knew the T34 had a counterweight for its gun.

      Delete
    3. The turret counter weight is something put onto the back of the turret to keep the tank from leaning forward due to its long gun.
It makes sense because the t30 has a shorter gun than the t34.

      Delete
    4. Also the term "turret counterweight" is confusing, 'cause it implies, for me, that the counterweight is for the turret.

      Delete
    5. 1) It implies the counterweight is on the turret and is probably a clarity from translation issue.
2)Ever notice how the rear part of the turret for the T34 is 200mm but the T30 and T29 are 100mm? That's the counterweight

  4. obviously the e100s armor is not correct.
there was a hull manufactured... it had 200mm lower plate armor.

"historical" is some word WG doesnt understand correctly. For them the UDSSR is still alive and in competition.. that is not historically correct.

    Just a bad joke..

    1. SS has already brought this up a couple of times- that's fake, the historian Doyle (MAJOR German armour buff) confirmed the lower plate is 150mm.

Also, 280mm eff lower plate armour is retardedly OP at any tier, the E-100 would be frontally impenetrable to anything but tier X TDs and gold ammo.

BTW, what does WG mean with E-75 armour being "historical", the Germans didn't even have detailed plans ready...?

    2. >MAJOR German armour buff

He's the foremost living historian on German tank development and production going so far as researching through documents confiscated from the Industrial Conglomerates during the Nuremburg trials. Pretty much what he says are about as close to the historical truth as you can get.

      On E-75, probably design criteria.

    3. >E-75, probably design criteria

I read somewhere that the big thing about the E-series was the standardisation, not so much adding moar firepower and moar armour (though the führer would have probably intervened)...

Erm...wanna bet? They fucking do, ive had it happen numerous times

    1. they dont, they just dont penetrate. the two thing is different

    2. I wonder if he means that the server stops tracking them at that point. Can't a regular shell ricochet off one section of a tank and still strike another normally?

      Delete
    3. it can, and furthermore it can even ricochet off one vehicle and hit the tank besides it.

[had it twice so far. once i killed an enemy vehicle by "mistake" ricochet off from an IS into a t34-85, the other time my platoonmate got a ricochet shot which was supposed to be for me, into his ass. He firstly thought i hitted him, replay showed otherwise.]

i guess you got the point, my guess would also be that the heat shell cant hit a second time.

    4. L3gi, it was previously confirmed (on this blog, I believe) that once a shell hits a tank, it is only capable of hitting that tank. You CAN'T physically ricochet off one tank and into another in WoT.

"Trap" shots, off the turret and into the upper deck of a tank are possible, but not bouncing off one and hitting another. The server doesn't calculate the trajectory of a shell after it interacts with a tank model, it only calculates the interactions with that tank.

From my time in derping M4, I remember ricocheting HEATs, but it just might be that the shell makes a non-penetrating hit but the crew gives one of many misleading voice cues, in this case that it ricocheted.
They should really rework the crew voice comments because they are awfully misleading, while those actually useful can't be heard (you'll hear false "That had to hurt" or "Critical hit" on a non-penetrating hit that does nothing, but in most cases you won't hear that you're on fire, for example).

    6. My experience shows that shells can ricochet off your tank and hit the one next to you.
Happened to me in my T32 where a KT shell hit my gun mantlet and ricocheted off into a freindly Tiger who was slightly behind me

    7. I've had a ricochet off a friendly beside me kill me, too. This was a version or two ago, however.

    8. The only time when a shot fired at someone else can hurt you is HE splash. Once an AP shell hits a tank, it's bound to that tank and while graphically you can see shells passing through a tank or bouncing and hitting something else, it's just graphical and it can't do damage.

  6. - SerB states they work on tank stats only when they have nothing better to do, the game is for masses, not for statistics

What does that even mean? The devs are lazy and don't take the stats of tanks seriously?

    1. Tank statistics... like moving the wiki stats into the game, displaying more tank statistics, such stuff. Not changing them.

  7. not more than just regular cannons, but more than an entire top-tier team.

  8. Sorry for the stupid question but will this bring to the game?
"independent suspension is already tested internally"

What will change in gameplay? turning will be different? tracking? what?

    1. No, it's a graphic feature - each wheel moves independently. No changes in parameters.

    2. Just graphic, not physical?
I thought it will be something like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7jQPUgMS3Q

    3. Same here, ATM the tank rocks like mad when going over uneven ground(which was the reason why IRL tanks with independent suspension were made in the first place?). Also it should mean that partly higher ground under the front of the tank should not lift the whole front part of the tank that has independent suspension?

    4. Something like Márton posted, yes

    5. that's the spirit Marton. It would actually be really neat if the game had the same tracks as in this video :/

      Delete
    6. The one in the video seems too bouncy, like it has no shock absorbers. This means that after they introduce it into the game, the tanks will be bouncing around for two years before they fix them one by one - they will have to adjust torsion bar/springs stiffness etc. for every tank separately.
