Storm on some 8.4 changes

Storm on some changes in 8.4:

- lower frontal armor angle on Panther and vehicles based on its hull increased to historical 55 degrees (Jagdpanther, GW Panther, Panzer V/IV and others, does not concern Panther II and E-50)
- lower frontal armor angle on T-44 reduced to historical 45 degrees
- Caernarvon, Conqueror and FV215b - increased armor thickness of the meeting point between upper and lower frontal hull armor (203, 203, 254)
- Nvidia SLI support added
- removed the "exterior" hangar button blocking when the crew is incomplete
- (SS: I am really not sure what this means - an automatic chat log) added the ingame chat addressing (logging?) option - with or without autosave
- for vehicles and crews with Intuition perk and autoloader, when the the perk is triggered, it'll reload the whole autoloader and not just one cassette
- arty-mode FPS drop fixed for some configurations
- FPS in hangar limited to 60 FPS
- re-worked and optimalized the tank exhaust smoke effect
- returned the possibility to retrain the crew to a tank you don't physically own in the hangar - a special warning window added for this case
- added the fullscreen windowed mode ("maximize" button on the window)
- fixed the bug where the bug where the turret and gun barrel get stuck if a shell hits the turret
- fixed left speaker weird sound on some configurations, occuring after a shot
- fixed the bug with ammo order getting screwed when changing turrets
- fixed the bug where the barrel gets stuck in some cases when you aim at near obstacles

So much for the article. Storm explains some things in the discussion:

- the 60FPS limit in hangar is for the reason that some graphic cards try to generate very high FPS and therefore get too much used in the hangar, Storm also states Vsync didn't work, at least not always
- regarding the fact it was banned to retrain crews to vehicles not physically present in the garage: "We solved that and decided more harm than good would come out of it"
- Malinovka and Westfield assault mode gets removed for re-work, because they were imbalanced: Westfield more than Malinovka
- Storm doesn't know why Sexton I counts as "American"
- Caernarvon, Conqueror and FV215b have the same amount of fuel tank hitpoints as other tanks of the same tier
- "test will show" about the statistics of the VK2801
- test will "not start this week" (SS: they probably don't want to collide with the Chinese weekend)
- garage chat channel history: "when it's done it's done"
- Pz IC and Pz IIG armament? "it will be seen in the test"
- tier 10 Brit HESH ammo won't be changed to HEAT/APDS soon, as far as Storm knows

- no plans for SU-101 buff
- no plans for now for re-training the crew roles (for example a driver into a radioman)
- historical Soviet Guard unit emblem won't be implemented
- XP on VK2801 (and other tanks) will stay when they get pushed one tier up

Update 2:

Overlord translated it officially. You can read it on his blog . Some of it, anyway :)

  1. well, they noticed the wrong degrees fast :/

  2. wiki says that the sexton 1 was based on the M3 Lee like the M7 Priest was.. UK didn't buy any of these, they made not much more than a hundred.. UK did buy over 2000 Sexton 2 vehicles though, which were based off the Canadian Sherman hulls ("grizzly").. although now i want to re check cos the Ram is sticking in my head as being involved somewhere in the story..

But i am pretty sure it says that UK bought Sexton 2, not 1..
it also mentions that when a 25-pounder was fired from an M7 Priest it broke the tank.. lol

  3. - FPS in hangar limited to 60 FPS - that's good, the hangar (why not garage as it's actually called?) in fact puts more stress on the GPU than the actual game does, due to the latter being very CPU limited, so I like it :)

    1. This comment has been removed by the author.

  4. - removed the "exterior" hangar button blocking when the crew is incomplete - just a note, the exterior is translated in other languages in the game as "appearance", so the "exterior" was confusing for me until I changed the in-game language to EN/US. So it's the button where you change the appearance of the tank, the camo and emblems etc. Just some clarification for non-english-ingame folks out there.

    1. SS sorry for spamming, but another thing:
      - fixed the bug with ammo reload when changing turrets
I think it's not about reloading, but about changing the order of ammunition when you change the turret, ex you put gold ammo first and then HE, change the turret and the order will be back to default (AP, gold, HE). I might be wrong though ;)

    2. ^ AFAIK порядка means "order", but as in "sequence" rather than "direction to supply", but both those meanings make sense in this context, hence the confusion

    3. - fixed the bug where the barrel gets stuck in some cases when you aim at near obstacles
So after looking at Overlord's post, now it's clear that it's about a bug where when near an obstacle, it often happens that when switching from arcade to sniper, you're aiming for the sky instead of that enemy tank that you had in sights in arcade an that will shoot you now before you re-adjust... :)

  5. annother nerf to german tanks for historical reasons.
Ah well, that part wasn't bouncy at all.

    1. "- lower frontal armor angle on Panther and vehicles based on its hull INCREASED to historical 55 degrees (Jagdpanther, GW Panther, Panzer V/IV and others, does not concern Panther II and E-50)" Instead of instantly screaming anti-german bias, why not read first?

    2. Afaik 90 degrees means usually flat Armor, like on Tiger. In comparison to that, penetration calculation is done from the orthogonal, 0 degrees is direct hit on flat armor, >70 degrees is autobounce (without overmatching).
Increasing armor angle means usually a nerf.
      Is this correct?

    3. IMO it's a buff, in penetration tutorial video they measure the armor angle as the angle of deviation from vertical, not horizontal. It makes sense, because at the same time it's the angle between the armor's normal and the projectile's flight path, so [armor angle = impact angle] of a bullet traveling parallel to the ground. Otherwise "armor angle 35 degrees" would be useless, because you'd have to calculate the number that you're actually interested in, the impact angle, which would be 90-35, so why not just say "armor angle 55"?

  6. Angle increase means a buff, doesn't it. Zero angle means vertical while 180 means flat, at least that's how they measured it, for example, in the penetration tutorial video.

    1. Oops meant to reply to Kazomir, SS can you fix pls?
