7.2.2013 - part 2

- both the top version of the Soviet IS tank with the 122mm gun (and with the frontal hull armor "divided in the middle" (two parts with different angles) and the one with "streamlined" sloped armor without different angles) are correctly historically designated as "IS-2"
- the hull with the "divided armor" was selected for the tier 7 IS because there was never such a thing as an IS tank with 85mm gun and streamlined armor
- it was considered to divide the IS tank into more vehicles, but then it was denied, as the IS variants aren't very different from each other
- apparently there is a rumor running around that one KV-3 vehicle took part in WW2 fighting. It's not true - KV-220 did, KV-3 didn't.
- it's not yet sure that the T7 German LT "Aufklärungspanzer Panther" will be researched from the VK2801, or what its armament will be
- Q: "SerB, is it possible to introduce the real-life performance IS-7?" A: "You're a newfag :) Such an IS-7 there was already in the alpha test."
- vehicle economy is separated from balancing, occasionally however it has some small influence on it
- Chinese and British arty characteristics? "You'll see"
- the reason for 88mm L/71 and other German guns penetration being different from some German penetration: different methodology of what was considered a penetration and what wasn't, it's based on Russian results with captured guns
- Q: "Why are low tier battles the way they are - everyone penetrates everyone?" A: "Because it's ololololol"
- Q: "Jagdpanther II was removed from the main TD branch, what is its fate?" A: "Its fate is beautiful :)"
- Arty Batchat doesn't have an autoloader because the devs don't have references for it - if someone finds some, they'll add
- only fallen trees count as one for the purpose of additional camo factor, standing trees still counts as multiple cover (multiple bushes)
- there will be no special XP compensation for Jagdpanther II users, the change is not related to the 2nd TD branch if I understand it correctly (SS: sorry, I'm really tired, just correct me if I am wrong)
- SerB thinks the new tutorial will be only for new players, but he's not 100 percent sure
- it's not planned for players to make their own maps
- there will be no free garage slot given out in 8.4 (not as in the AMX ELC case, "because we do not insert new tanks, we only push the existing ones up one tier")
- regarding the Waffenträger 2nd German TD branch: "It's not a Waffenträger branch, it's an open-topped TD branch. It will come in 2013."
- Valentine TD is NOT the Archer. There won't be the Archer in 8.4
- apparently, dynamic vehicle characteristics (in hangar) are being worked on
- Wespe will now be unlockable from Marder, it's not a bug
- although some of the British TD vehicles have multiple guns, multi-gun mechanism was not yet developed, eg. AT-7 will behave much like M3 Lee.
- M26 top turret mantlet thickness is 203mm
- Sexton confirmed as US vehicle
- FV215b and FV4005 Stage 2 are different vehicles (SS: apparently a lot of people mix them up)
- on the new tree, VK3601H is listed as "heavy", but this will actually be done later, not in 8.4

How is that meant? The Batchat has a magazin , right?

    1. It's referring to the fact the autoloader is not visually modelled within the hull apparently.

    5. Weird, I didn't pay attention to it. I had hoped, that a Ferdinant placed outside of the tree could get put into a new tree and moved to tier 8, but looks like they don't want the JP2 there.

The Archer with the 17 pounder in tiert 3 sounded just
too fantastic for me right from the start.

But the British TD's look awesome!!! Can'T wait and already grinding XP on the Churchill to directly buy the Churchill Gun Carrier when it comes out. The muzzle break on that looks like the original Tourtoise one, maybe it has the 32 pounder!?!

    6. I honestly don't get why they are moving the JP2 (not that it changes anything at the minute?) unless they are planning to add something after it? :s

The Ferdi should really be the odd one out as it uses Porsche, while the JP2 engines are consistent with the tanks that come before and after it.

    7. Paul Convery - they didn't "move" it, it's just rearranged on the picture, all of the connections are the same, i. e. the actual tree is the same just the pieces are positioned differently because it wouldn't fit otherwise.

  3. Silent. Can You please elaborate on Sexton answer? Did they give any reasoning behind this decision?

    1. And another surprise. Sexton is included in British tree as a Premium arty. What the hell they are doing with it???

    2. Sexton I = US premium arty
      Sexton = British premium arty

      Yes, I know, gay.

    3. Pink shirt wearing, chest waxing, taking it like a champ gay... It could have been such a nice step from (future) Commonwealth line to (future) arty branch. :(

Disclaimer: All above is a wild speculation, i.e. I don't know anything about future of British tree.

  4. FV4005 Stage 2
That thing looks monstrous,is it going to be implemented in the game?

    2. Oh...
Any news about the tier X British TD gun? From what I remember it should've mount a bigger gun than Jagtpanzer E100.

    3. Dude, it's in the announced branch. FV215b with 183mm cannon.

    Haha, oh wow.

  6. 183MM Cannon holy sheeit.. I hope it can be dealt with easier than a Jaggy E-100, Though all the Brit TD's look wompy and weird.. Though the Pz2AG looks neat little, tank.. Can't wait to try that little tank out & hope to hear more about the U.S Meds..I am really looking forward to the T54E2 & T95E2 & some day..the M60..Hm..Thanks greatly for the updates! I check everyday!

  7. "- there will be no free garage slot given out in 8.4 (not as in the AMX ELC case, "because we do not insert new tanks, we only push the existing ones up one tier")"

I like this answer; "push the existing ones up one tier", aint that spot on what they did when we all got ELC AMX and free garage slot, or did I miss something when my lovely AMX 13 90 became a tier 8? So why not give us one this time as well?

    1. Yup, then they pushed up and inserted a new tank into a resulting hole, now they are pushing up and inserting not one but 2 tanks into the hole that is created, so their explanation seems a little flawed at least.

  8. 203mm mantlet on Pershing? That actually and unfortunately makes sense (I finally understand all those weird bounces). But this is probably not historical at all.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The center of the mantlet is 203.2mm, the edges are 101.6mm with the upper and lower edges having an additional 120mm turret front behind them, the side edges have the 101.6mm turret cheeks behind them.

So you're looking at 203mm flat armour at the least and 220mm+ lightly sloped armour at the most...

    2. Always go there with such problems http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Newfag

      I prefer most that definition:

"A word used by no-life internet nerd elitists to describe somebody that has not gone into a subject as deeply as the internet nerd did (mostly because the normal person has a life), and the internet nerd acts like a jerk towards the normal person because the normal person (what the nerd calls a "newfag") got a single small detail about a subject wrong."

      ;)

  10. So, according to this:

    http://worldoftanks.eu/dcont/fb/art_/ger-tree-eu.jpg

the connection from Pz III/IV to Hummel will be gone as well, which sucks because I was just exping to research Hummel to finally have the Pz elite'd. So it's either "make 50k exp to get Hummel before 8.4" or "wait for 8.4 and finally school that crew". On the other hand I'm happy because that shortcut was kind of stupid in the first place.
