29.5.2013

- the reason why the new XL spall liner will be changed from large to XL only after it gets removed from a tank and put to your depot is that the XL one will be heavier and under certain circumstances (stock tank for example), by leaving it on the vehicle it could actually overload the suspension (eg. the vehicle weight would be bigger than suspension allowance)
- spall liner will be removed from tanks even if the suspension has enough capacity to allow it
- all the tanks of all the nations have the same shell distribution within the aim circle (SS: well, apart from arties in 0.8.6 that is)
- France has a superheavy tank candidate, China doesn't
- French "monster" tanks á la TOG II will be implemented (SS: Char FCM etc.)
- SerB sees the possibility of tanks with twin-linked D-25T on tier 9 - as for the issue that the pen is too low for such a tier, he states it's possible for such a tank to fire HE, or to fight medium tanks
- additional equipment and consumables? "If there is such a thing planned, I will tell you"
- the MTLS tankette twin-linked 37mm doesn't work with a twin-linked gun mechanism in game, it simply acts as a single gun firing very fast, in the case of autocannons it doesn't matter according to SerB, but two big guns would have to work differently
- the twin-linked guns are just an option at this point, there is no guarantee such tanks will come, the main issue is to develop the recoil mechanism, how the guns will fire (one at a time?) etc.
- the 0.8.6 shell velocity nerf doesn't mean the range will be nerfed too, devs will simply change the gravity acceleration
- crew skills for gold won't come
- tests will show, whether the E-25 will be on tier 7 or 6
- 0.8.6 test will last at least a few weeks
- balance weight of vehicle doesn't depend on its configuration (stock/elite)
- apparently, there are some references to GAZ-74b in the game files. According to SerB, it's a Soviet self-propelled gun (tank destroyer), basically not yet implemented, a predecessor (first version) of SU-85B, its model was not yet implemented
- the tank damage model (client-side physics) will possibly include equipment such as boxes, machineguns or logs getting ripped off by enemy fire from the tank, devs are working on that
- Q: "Will we see realistic simulated environment like destructible bridges?" A: "Yea, how about a 25kg heavy Wii joystick to simulate reloading the IS-2 shells?"
- change of MM weight won't be displayed in official patchnotes
- Caernarvon won't recieve the Centurion 105mm, it would be too OP
- the system for more reward for potential damage will be implemented

  1. Why do they not show the MM changes in official patchnotes?

    1. It's not public knowledge. MM weight is just as secret (officially anyway) as for example the camo factor of each vehicle.

    2. Is there perhaps any unofficial and actual info on camo factor somewhere on the internet?

  2. Twin-linked guns might mean Neubaufahrzeug release. The small turrets only have MG34s so no need for multiturret mechanisms.

Yes I'm obsessed with that thing, german madness at its finest.

The superficial damage sounds cool, but a nightmare for model replacers.

  3. In this case, i don't know why SerB was trolling that guy for asking that enviroment question.. I mean, I know he likes trolling, but that was actually a normal question, which I think could be answered normally without trolling -.- Sometimes i dont understand SerB at all..

Atleast it shows that he's a little bit creative :P

I love my HMS Hood (TOG II) and I start every battle with the sentence: "Good day gentlemen, this is a british navy operation, may I ask if you know the current position of the Bismarck?"

Now to find some well-known french ships and prepare for the FCM&friends.

Help me pray to SerB so that we can telepathically influence him to release more french tanks!!

    1. That superheavy french tanks (FCM F1, Char 2C, Char 2C bis) needs multiturret support, so not anytime soon.

    3. The 2C and 2C bis do not need multi-turret support (since only one of the turrets actually has a big gun), but the FCM F1 probably will.

  5. Nice, that rewards could be a nice compensation for jpe100 and others slow tanks in maps where you arrive too late to do any dmg if your team is about to win already.

Those 15000 potential dmg in some Jpe100 battles needs to be rewarded some way, plus the TD exp system getting the same as others....is all some td drivers need to continue playing those tanks =)

  8. SS: your comment about shell distribution within circle for arties after 8.6 is not true I think.

The 'shape' of the distribution is determined by the sigma at which you put the circle. This goes from 1.3-sigma (now) to 2-sigma (8.6), for all tanks (also arties). This makes the distribution 'pointier', so more shots near centre, more hits. To prevent arties getting OP, their aiming circle gets bigger (0.9 accuracy and such). But the sigma of the circle is the same as for other tanks, so same distribution. That's what SerB means I think.

    1. They havn't clarified that bit . On one hand they say that arty does not get the new distribution but then they say that the arty nerfs are due to the new distribution . So it is still confusing all will be revealed on the test though.

      Delete
    2. Actually, original Russian version made it pretty clear that they "couldn't apply new shell distribution mechanics to SPGs without compensating for it with an accuracy nerf", otherwise it would be an arty buff.

The confusing bit you mention was just a horrible, sub-GoogleTranslate fail of the person who prepared English version of that news.

  9. - "the 0.8.6 shell velocity nerf doesn't mean the range will be nerfed too, devs will simply change the gravity acceleration"
This means all shells are gonna be slower, right? If so, how slow?

    1. He's probably refering to the 10% shell velocity nerf on SPGs.

    2. This applies to derp guns as well, the speed reduction is up to 30% in some cases, IIRC.

    3. Slowpoke ammo!

    4. Well, in that case the shell velocity nerf plus the dispession buff will make howitzer guns punish snipers/campers and make the user suffer against mobile targets.

  11. Does 'For The Record' have a source, who's going to attend the E3 trade show in Los Angeles, CA on June 11 to 13th?

I'm asking because Wargaming is going to show off 'World of Ships' according to this announcement:

what does that mean? arty not only gets an accuracy nerf, but also keeps the old shell distribution or what...? (from the GAZ-74b part)

and since when are self propelled guns tank destroyers?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In game a lot of SPGs are tank destroyers. As for the 0.8.6 - I think I remember correctly that while regular vehicles will have the new linear distribution, arties will still have the "old" one.

      Delete
    2. I think you may be wrong, Frank. Based on the earlier stuff you posted, the reason why arty accuracy was nerfed was precisely because the new shell distribution would have made it way too precise.

    3. linear? do you have a post where that is mentioned, because that would be shocking.

    FTR total views:

If SS will keep this blog running, it will overtake Overlord's blog in just 2 months in visitor numbers. Maybe sooner.

  16. So the different nation's tanks will have a different shell distribution. I hadn't realised that.

  17. - all the tanks of all the nations have the same shell distribution within the aim circle (SS: well, apart from arties in 0.8.6 that is)

Dunno how it will be in 0.8.6 but atm in game this is pure bullshit propaganda. KV-2 derping at 400-500m or any other "inaccurate" derp sniping. Not one shot or two but the whole time. And then you have like 0,33 or even better accurate guns spreading every other shot in fucking universe. Also i'm big soviet bias conspiracist and i'm not hiding it so have you tried comparing BL-10 on Ob704 and 155mm gun on T30 and how many times does BL-10 hits the center or near the center and how many T30's gun. And why do you think soviets are still decent at sniping eventough their paper accuracy is bloody shit and should be missing tons of shells more than they do right now. You can snipe with IS almost the same as with Tiger(only super long range shots miss more) eventough second one have much superior accuracy on stats.

    1. All I read is Confirmation Bias much. I've had shots go WIDE in my KV-2 to my detriment, and I get lots of sniper medals in my Tiger and Tiger II all the time even while shooting at range.
