Music poll results

Hello everyone,

around a week ago, I made a poll about what the World of Tanks players listen to. 1673 people answered and let me tell you, the results kinda surprised me. The most surprising fact for me is that while 23 percent of people don't listen to anything at all (how can you stand it?), 20 percent actually listen to the ingame soundtrack. Don't you find it a bit... dull, generic?

Either way, it seems that a lot of World of Tanks players are rockers, because 26 percent of all players listen to rock/rock'n roll and 30 percent to metal. Rock on! :) 12 percent listen to dance music, 7 percent to house and - surprise - 8 percent listen to classical music.

What people generally don't listen to: pop music, hiphop (thanks god its era is over, I hate that shit), country music (well, no surprise there) and nation-specific music (what, no chalga?!).

15 percent of players listen also to something else (what?).

Thank you for participating :)

  2. Cool, I guess I should listen to rock music too to keep the aggressiveness meter high.

I just listen to in game music and actually a low one so I can observe, think, and act appropriately.

  14. Dude I have 5 guitars, I listen to all kinds of music, rock, pop, metal and hip hop, and I hate shitty people, that hate music generes that they don't like.
You are a hater, bc you can't just call sth shitty without giving a reason.
And rap music is far more complex than you think, alot of it needs more skill than playing 3 power chords and screaming to the microphone, and that's how 80% of rock music is made.

  18. Well, there is nothing wrong in general with Hip Hop, it's just that new shit (most of 2000+ stuff) which calls itself "rap/hip-hop" (and isn't) sucks so much they are even secretly playing it in vacuum cleaners for maximized sucking effect.

I don't listen to it very much or that, but sadly most new records of any style get shittier every year :(

Regarding the in-game soundtrack - yes, that's why I like it, it just adds a little bit of flavour, but does not take away the focus :)

What is Something other in my case? Well, movie and game soundtracks mostly, many militaristic music themes fits to WoT very nicely. Best example would be main theme of the movie Crimson Tide.

  28. @SS, too bad you chose to act like the worst type of ignorant. I guess you missed my post in the first topic about the music poll, were i was explaining in a few words that hip-hop is not music. You should know that Mtv doesn't make musical education and it promotes only comercial crap. I assure you that good rap music really exists, but only for the ones who know to be selective, therefore your opinion about it is irrelevant.

    1. I noticed but truth to be told, it makes no real difference to me. After all, what is "real rap"? Some people praise Tupac as the best rapper and whatnot, but all I've seen when I looked at his lyrics is a frustrated racist negro, babbling about selling drugs and murdering white people. I really am not a "rap" person, no matter how commercial on uncommercial it is.

  36. The default music is dull and bland after listening to it for 3000 games...but it is familiar and comfortable, and responds to the ramp up of tension in the game. Nothing else is needed.

However, thank you for having the "nation specific" entry, because I had never heard of "Serbian Turbo Folk", and got many great hours of exploration out of those three words.

  39. I keep the radio on in the background, tuned to a station goes by the name of "Radio Rock". Their content tends to be a tad more varied than the name might suggest, though; one of their regular features is a weekly "guest DJ" corner, where they play through a list picked by someone more or less famous - and what the guest chooses goes regardless of genre or whatnot. Plus the veteran music reporter who does their assorted "thematic" regular evening features is in the habit of playing anything and everything under the sun, from old interwar "schlagers" to Elvis to newest death metal...

And then I listen to Touhou soundtrack remixes off Youtube which probably makes me a terrible, terrible weeaboo. :P

It makes you someone with impeccable taste in music. :D
      Which are your favourite themes?

    2. The two are hardly mutually exclusive you know... ;)

Ehh, what can I name off the top of my head... "Soul As Red As A Ground Cherry", "Centennial Festival For Magical Girls", "U. N. Owen", "Doll Judgement", "Mystic Oriental Dream", "Deaf To All But The Song", "Cinderella Cage", "Fall of Fall", "Suwa Foughten Field", "Lullaby of Deserted Hell"...
Also honorary mention to "Rose-killing Carmilla" from Touhouvania 2 even if the lyrics, as usual with Remilia-related pieces, could do with less AAAAAANGST. (But then it's not like I read the subtitles when playing.)

As far as the remixes go most of the above have good ones, plus there's a number of epic ones for "Septette For the Dead Princess" and "Tiger-Patterned Bishamonten".

      Delete
    3. My favourites are "Border of Life" and "Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke". But there are so many other fantastic ones like "Higan Retour ~ Riverside View", "Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial" and "Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17".

ZUN is an amazing composer and I can honestly say I've yet to find a bad theme of his.

As for the fan arrangement groups, I tend to like the works of UI-70, Demetori, SOUND HOLIC, SYNC.ART'S and Silver Forest.

      Delete
    4. "Higan Retour" is pretty nice, agreed. Not a big fan of most of the other PoFV themes though (Mystia's aside) so I end up rarely opening that particular playlist - should probably make a separate one for the pieces that make for good WoT BGM but :effort:...
      :/
As far as the circles go when I looked through my fave lists I realised EastNewSound, Liz Triangle, C-CLAYS, Sound Online, Syrufit and IOSYS seem to be the most common names to show up. Ofc ENS 'mixes have a habit of not sounding all that much like the originals and the IOSYS "crazy awesome" stuff doesn't make for good background tracks, but "never mind the bollocks" as the man said since they're great anyway. :D

That 'what?' in my case is talk-radio or online audio-tape during the day. When I play in the evening the TV is usual turned on.

I can't stand the music-radio. 1st I need to listen to the 10 most sold songs, then the 10 most popular, then the 10 most asked for, the 10 most liked and then,,, then I good damn need to listen to the 10 most played songs, again.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I listed as other because so often when I was on WOT, I would either be watching some movie/TV show or would be on TS/skype.

also, hip hop isn't all that bad, it's rap that needs to be brought out behind the shed. I don't listen to it, but hip hop is music that tells a story or has a moral, rap is "all 'bout the bitches and hos yuh gangsta' yo" (god I hate myself for saying that) or at least this was how it was explained to me by someone studying music (if some of those collections of noise can be called that).
