17.3.2013

- there will be no special game mechanics for semi-AP marine shells
- ejector graphic (cleansing of the barrel after each shot) might be implemented (SS: some modern guns have it), SerB thinks he actually implemented this already for some tank in WoT
- SerB says that the Designated Target perk works 15 degress from the barrel (SS: official description is 10 degrees)
- apparently, Brothers in Arms does influence the Designated Target perk
- MTLS-1G14 is not planned to appear on Russian (or EU) server
- 2 HE shell non-penetration hits in a row can kill off the entire crew (SS: the "no more than half a crew dead with one HE shell" rule applies only to one shell, not two shells in a row, plus a penetrating HE hit can kill off the entire crew completely)
- AMX-ELC can get to tier 5-9 battles
- SerB states there aren't any blatant spots on the Abbey maps where tanks would get stuck often
- Ram II is placed in the US tree because it uses American chassis and was co-developed by Americans, it won't be moved to the UK branch
- according to SerB, the Swedish possible heavy candidate KRV tank weighted 45 tons (SS: a player claimed it actually weighted 28 tons, my bet would be that the player confused the projected weight with the weight of the turretless prototype chassis that was actually made)
- SerB states that the incoming camouflage system change is connected with the camo having too little effect on large vehicles
- coniferous trees crowns (the large parts, near the ground) do act as bushes, when it comes to camo calculations
- according to SerB, the BT "Christie" turret is historical
- a player with hightier tanks can very rarely drop into the Province map - this happens when press accounts are present in the battle, they circumvent the regular map limitations (they can pick which map to play apparently)
- T23 won't return in forseeable future
- T-50-2 confirmed to be removed out of the game. The tank that will replace it will be transferred to tier 6, but this is not connected with the T-60/70/80 introduction (eg. won't happen in 8.5)
- AMX-30? "no comment"

As if T-50's highly inflated dynamics weren't enough, they added a successor that defies laws of physics...

  2. So, the T50 will raise one tier and the MT-25 Mototank will become tier 6? Does BiA influece every skill/perk? I thought it has just an effect on the mein abilities? (loading/driving,...)

    1. No, it affects skills/perks too I think.

  5. "SerB states that the incoming camouflage system change is connected with the camo having too little effect on large vehicles"

Does this mean that big tanks get even worse camo or that small vehicles get better camo? Making big tanks (mostly non USSR tanks) even more visible is not a good option in my opinion.

    1. Big vehicles should get more camo.

    2. Yes, they have too many disadvantages for their size. I would prefer fix camo bonus of trees and bushed instead of proportional. If I am able to find bushes/trees big enough to cover all my E100, why should they cover me less than smaller vehicle?

      Delete
    3. Because if any of the visibility check points sticks out of the bush, you will be spotted anyway, so that's a natural and logical consequence of being big vs small.

      Delete
    4. I was talking about "perfectly" covered tanks.

      Delete
    5. Better read the WoTWiki: The Camo of a bush is always the same, no matter the camofactor of the vehicle (while camoskill/-net is dependend on the camo of the tank).

  6. BTW, about Designated Target... is it +/- 15 degrees or 15 degrees total?

  7. "2 HE shell penetration in a row can kill off the entire crew (SS: the "no more than half a crew dead with one HE shell" rule applies only to one shell, not two shells in a row)"

I think this is a little poorly worded. A
One HE shell penetration can kill the entire crew. The rule mentioned applies to damage from HE shell non-penetrations.

    1. Oh, didn't know that. I thought it applies to penetrating hits too... but I guess it makes sense. I'll fix it, sec.

    2. Yeah, some guy posted a replay of a single arty HE shell killing his entire IS crew a couple of weeks ago. It was a full penetration through the roof, so we looked at your old translations, and it seems that the half-crew rule only applies to non-penetrating HE hits and HE splash.

  8. I wonder about that camouflage, will they "fix" the invisible tanks.. where at larger formation of bushes tanks use to disappear even dough they are just on 50m in front of you.

I mean.. damn, I could even see the smoke from the gun barrel on that distance and not even to speak about the "sounds" that tank would produce. By all means i should be detected!

    1. it was funny, I never seemed to be the invisitank (the moment I fired, every tom, dick and harry knew where I was) but friday night I was the invisitank for once, TD 100m away couldn't see me while I was firing into him :)

      Delete
    2. That's strange, as firing not only makes the bushes within 15m radius disappear (0 camo bonus), it also knocks the base camo way down, as low as 15% AFAIK.

      Delete
    3. Yes it does.. but it doesn't work properly [ At least I claim that ]. Best example is Cliff map, and the bushes under the lighthouse. Numerous of times I was hit by a "invisible" tank which I know where is standing but I can't detect it.

Yes.. that happens due to the "15m radius" rule.. but still dammit.. if a tank shoots on you from 20m you would definitely be able to determine from where did the shot came.. Is it by the smoke from the gun, sound that gun produces or even "visually" by determining where did the shot ended up on your armor.. you should "detect" it

I hope they will rework that.. so that that rule doesn't count if you are on some specific distance away from the tank [ Example within the range of 50m ].

    4. Well you'll definitely know who's shooting you from 20m because of the 50m X-ray vision. Anyway, I for example have a full camo skill on my crew, camo net and very good base camo on my scout, so I often drive up the ass of a big tank and he still can't see me even if I shoot him. Add coated optics and vent to that and I literally see him through 5 bushes and he can't see me.

  11. While this all is very interesting, I'm kind of confused by the ejector graphic thing. What does this mean? That the barrel will continue to smoke a bit after firing a shell?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I believe it means empty shells that are ejected from a tank after firing.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, but it says cleansing of the barrel after each shot. What does that have to do with throwing out shell casings?

      Delete
    3. Some tanks use a air/nitrogen "blower" to clear the barrel after each shot. (Naval guns use the same system.) Otherwise, sparks can remain in the barrel, causing an explosion when the next round is chambered.

What it should look like is a "puff" of smoke a second or so after a round is fired.

    4. Ah, thanks for that.

  12. > Ram II is placed in the US tree because it uses American chassis and was co-developed by Americans, it won't be moved to the UK branch

    1. no, sexton in UK tree was confirmed

    2. It was sarcasm but like others said this explanation is just silly, why don't they simply say that moving a tank from one nation to another one would be infeasible, just think about the guys who bought it to train American crews.

  13. So if I get nailed by a KV-2's derp gun and i have 6 crew members he can only kill up to 50% of my crew then there a chance he could actually kill 100% of my crew?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well... No.

      1) With AP, he can kill 100% of the crew.
      2) With HEAT, he can kill 100% of the crew.
      3) With HE, he can kill 100% of the crew, if the shell manages a full penetration.

However, if the HE shell does not penetrate, or misses (splash), then it can kill a maximum of 50% of your crew.

  14. The Ram II not being the UK branch is complete garbage. The Ram chassis was completely Canadian made (and CAST rather than riveted like contemporary M3 Lees at the time). It was based off the M3 Lee chassis but HEAVILY re-designed notably to get rid of the sponson housing the hull mounted 75 mm gun. WG just likes crapping on Canada.

  16. Ram II is not in UK branch because it is in game as american premium for very long time. Chaninging the nation of the tank is problematic (crew issue, camos ect) and they clearly do not want two indetical tanks. However they may add Ram I as T4 in British Commonweatlh line.
What interests me is answer "MTLS-1G14 is not planned to appear on Russian (or EU) server". Maybe that mean that MTLS-1G14 is planned to be added to NA server somehow? (With PzIIJ as EU eclusive and BTSV as russian)

  17. - according to SerB, the Swedish possible heavy candidate KRV tank weighted 45 tons (SS: a player claimed it actually weighted 28 tons, my bet would be that the player confused the projected weight with the weight of the turretless prototype chassis that was actually made)

Guess the guy took the information from here: http://sv.wikisource.org/wiki/Projekt_E_M_I_L

But according to this swedish armed museum-site: http://www.sphf.se/Axvall/emil.htm they say that the first prototype had a weight of 28 tons ( with ballast to simulate turret), but due to increased weigth they had to switch engine from 550 hp to 900 hp, so I guess SerB has found something regarding the second prototype.

Only sad thing is that this was the test-vehicle for the famous swedish S-tank, that they had already said that we wont get due to different hydraulic aim-with-tank programming. But shouldn´t it be possible after they implement independent wheel-suspension and take the programing from the AMX-series, look at the whole tank as a turret, and just use the tracks as turret-ring?? Any ideas??

    Photo 3 is S-tank track prototype on KRV-base: http://www.sphf.se/Axvall/103.htm

  18. It's funny watching them dig their heels in on little thing like tanks being in the wrong tree. So far, we've got French tanks in the German tree (and a few Czechs), US and British tanks in the Russian tree, German tanks in the French tree, and Canadian and British tanks in the US tree. The Chinese tree is cobbled together from all sorts of foreign tanks, and a completed British tree would going to be chock full of US tanks. Some are based on who used it, some are based on who designed it, some are based on who designed the tank before it, with no logic between them beside the fact the WG will never admit to being illogical.

    1. You do realize some of these 'incorrect' placings DO have a reason, do you?

      For example:
Those tanks in the Russian tree are there because of the Lend-Lease project, so technically placed correct. I can see the logic perfectly fine.

the last time i get something "for free" (except the gift at xmas) was the ELC for my AM 12t...
last patch i didnt get the new Tier 3 german light for my Luchs!
These times WG is hard up. so i can understand they aren't giving things for free (caution this was ironic!)

      Delete
    3. "For free" as in "replaced" - they won't just take the vehicle away without compensation, you will most likely recieve its replacement for free, yes. Please note that does NOT mean you will recieve any additional tank for free.

    4. However only golden shell of SU-100Y is naval APHE. 100mm and 130mm on IS-7 while they were developed from naval guns, they used own ammo that was not compatible with naval guns.
100mm was totally different gun at the end, with only same ballistics as naval AA gun, and 130mm on IS-7 started development from 152mm naval gun where case was necked down to 130mm, if you search data for 130mm S-70 and various naval 130mm you will notice that they don't ahave same ballistics.
