11.3.2013

- Q: "When will SerB stop making a god out of himself?" A: "Already stopped, when I made one out of myself."
- SerB states that devs have full right to buff/nerf gift tanks, just like they have principially full right to buff/nerf premium tanks
- M1932 Christie tank (SS: very fast, theoretically up to 200 km/h) might be introduced one day, but it's questionable whether the tank really reached such speeds
- Japanese Type 100 (O-I) - SerB states the 100 means 1940, which most likely means the year when the project was initiated. SerB also states they have info on some other Japanese nomenclature, but he won't publish it now, he'll check the documents first
- Italian OF-40 is highly unlikely to appear
- Italians have superheavy tank concepts "not for the feint of heart" - from these series
- regarding the White Tiger ingame event (SS: 1 "White Tiger" vs 15 T-34, RU server only) - no such game mode is planned, because too few players would want to play the "T-34s"
- assault, meeting engagement, escort mode in Clanwars? "we have some ideas but for now we won't implement that"
- jungle maps have been postponed
- SerB on the difference in online numbers between RU, EU and US servers: "That's because here we troll players and there we don't. Recently, we made a trolling session on US server and the player amount increased by 2 percent. But seriously: here, we have a tank on a pedestal as a monument in each city. In Europe - most players are the Germans and the Poles. In the first case - each grandpa fought on a Tiger. In the second case - everyone knows Sharik" (SS: Sharik is a dog from an iconic communist TV series "4 tankists and a dog" about wartime Polish tank crew - a lot of Soviet propaganda within that one)
- there is no guarantee the Germans will have a T5 heavy, the fact the Americans and Soviets have one doesnt mean the German tree has to be the same
- T7 VK3002DB won't have a new top gun added
- the Patton Valley medal did not decrease battle lifespan of T9 and T10 Pattons
- SU-122-44 does not stand out statistics-wise
- SU-101 was picked over SU-122-44 for the T8 spot, because SU-122-44 was only a paper project
- T-35 is rather bad in it historical configuration, it's too early to talk about it according to SerB
- fan-sites have no influence on game development
- SerB states that if he was to replace the IS-7 for a more realistic variant that he wouldn't have to nerf too much for it not to become too overpowered, IS-4 would have a problem, as its native gun doesn't penetrate well
- when new camo patterns are implemented, those who bought permanent camo will not be able to select them for free
- when VK3601 becomes a heavy tank, its characteristics might change, but the probability of that is small
- unclear whether the client-side physics (Havok) will enter all at once or one effect at a time (independent suspension, turrets flying off etc.)
- FV215b TD and HT have the same hull, including the fuel tanks placement
- 0.8.6 - no Soviet medium line
- SerB states that WoWp BigWorld is better optimized client-wise than the WoT one
- Leopard 1 will definitely have thin armor, but as for other characteristics - depends on tests
- P.40 and 44M Tas will most likely become medium tanks, Japanese Type 95 - most likely a heavy tank
- 75mm Celere Sahariano is according to SerB perhaps not a fake, as it is mentioned often, but he will see what kind of turret it gets, as the gun wouldn't fit the original turret
- there might be a ping counter in the hangar, but not soon, as it represents a load on the server

and from "Wargaming plans for 2013":

    1. Ye, the earlier (wot-news.com) text was screwed up. I assumed they have some internal sources, since they are Russian and all. They don't.

I dont get this one. What does it mean? For me it means either that if IS7 would be taken out from the game (which it wont) IS4 would lose its current gun or... if I put my socks on, I always keep milk in the fridge.

    1. Basically, SerB got asked, which tank would fit the realistic T10 Soviet heavy slot without nerfing it's real life parameters too much. SerB answered that the IS-4 (which is assumed to be the replacement for IS-7) would presumably fit, but its RL gun (D-25) would have a penetration problem.

    2. Thanks for clearing that out.

  3. Lot of answer about italians tank. I'm still hoping they'll get a separate tree from other EU nations. An if they introduce the super heavy tank concept, well that's going to be fun as hell ahahah

    1. Well the italian superheavy is definitely a WTF material

    2. There's a reason most Italians don't even know them. Still it's disappointing that they already excluded the OF-40, that thing is really closer to a Leopard 1 than a Leopard 2 and imo it would have been the ideal medium tier X of a hypothetical Italian tree... without that tank I suppose that they should use the Leopard 1 as tier X but they'll quickly realise that it doesn't make any sense and they'll end up scraping the idea of an Italian tech tree tout-a-court... In this way we'll become the only major WWII power without a tech three, just because the Japanese had enough time to build a pair of prototypes before they got nuked, meh.

    3. Don't count the OF-40 out just yet. I mean, it went from "no way" to "highly unlikely", which for Wargaming is progress.

    4. Ah! Thanks for the info, I started following the behind the scenes only recently so I didn't know that they actually "upgraded" its status.

    Very sad statement......

    1. Why? Because you neither one of them and you envy them???
      Elaborate anon...

    2. Well, for one it would be ignoring the massive UK and French player base, which dwarves the Poles both in numbers and spending capability.

It's sad because it's blatantly untrue.

      Delete
    3. and do you have any proof that there are more UK and french than germans and polish? I personally think what serb says corresponds to what I see in battle

      Delete
    4. Well, take into account that Poles and Fritzes got the most active subforums as well... SerB is probably right.

      Delete
    5. hahahaha "massive UK and French player base"
UK and France together are not even 1/5 Polish community. The UK and France is even less players than Hungary or Romania or CZ/SK etc. and you want to compair french and UK community with Polish and German? MEGA LOL

    6. it's not good indication but in CW I don't know any major french clan (2 or 3 of them happen to land somewhere from time to time)while there is 10 polish clan in europe part of map (not counting sub clans)

In overall go4wot ranking there are 24 polish teams before you will find 1st french team

      forum section:
polish: 16k topics, over 5M posts
french: 9k topics, over 3M posts

so frenchies may spam forum more then czech and slovak players but they are less succesful :D

either way, brits and french combined have probably similar number of players to poles, can outspend them easily and don's stand a chance against them in competitive playing :D

  5. - there is no guarantee the Germans will have a T5 heavy, the fact the Americans and Soviets have one doesnt mean the German tree has to be the same

and French have it (even at T4) and British too, which means only Chinese (fresh and incomplete tree) and Germans (old and very big tree) are handicapped.

    - T7 VK3002DB won't have a new top gun added

    1. Vk3002DB it's fine with 88 and 7,5. It's an incredible tank that divide the noob users from experienced ones. Difficult to play but rewarding tanks are AWESOME.

    2. 3002DB is and ok tank NOW that they buffed the pen to 150 and it can use gold ammo; before that is was a pain in the ass. But its still far away from being "incredible"

    3. I said nothing about it being a good or bad a tank (I personally have mixed feelings), I just sadfaced about no new gun, because it could use some distinctive feature. The Panther has it's silly 75/L100 and VK DB has what... DB engine? Rear transmission? Doesn't really cut it. Its weak armor could be compensated somehow without an imbalance, slopes don't help much with such a thin armor. With 75 it's has painfully low alpha, with 88 it's sluggish (crazy turret weight). I still like it more than the Tiger, anyways.

    4. I wouldn't go so far as calling it 'incredible' but it's not the pile of dogshite that some players claim it is either.

This will be epic...hope it's high on their list of priorities...

  7. "We have a tank monument in every city"

I'm American but I totally understand that mentality, I even used to try to explain to people but it somehow gets lost in translation to my brethren. I mean, we have tank monuments in *some* cities here, but it doesn't mean the same thing here because these tanks were shipped back from far away lands, they didn't fight for the freedom and survival of the city they are parked in. There isn't any "my grandfather survived because of *that* tank", so it's like an art museum or something to us.

It was pretty warming to see SerB say flat out what I've known for awhile ;)

This is why we are not going to get a 'historical' Tiger or MM, and is also why I have doubts about a historical mode in general...

    1. Are you implying there wouldn't be an IS opposite the Tiger that historically could stomp it?

      Delete
    2. Yeah, but how many ISs were there? For that matter how many Tigers were there? I predict a bit of waiting in the MM for a lot of panzerboys before they ride into battle with a Tiger...

  9. "- fan-sites have no influence on game development", no shit again, these Fu****** Id****** should take a course in customer relations, then have no idea about how to take advantage of a active community, they only work as gods, thankfully I have stopped paying them and only enjoying the rest of my prem account as long as it last, no more money their way...
