So I would like to perform a Q&A secession here about the American Tanks that are currently in, planned, or could be in WoT. So please leave your questions in the comments and I should have answers in a day or two.
I was talking about the plan to modified the T25 to accept the 105mm RIFLED gun. Why would I be asking about the howizer? Its already on the stupid thing, jeez, you people. Worse then the people on Overlords blog
Read "Fake American Vehicles" and you might see the design you sheb. (LoserDestiny)
Maybe you should be the one to go and read, idiot.
Lol take it easy little boy. Maybe you should express yourself in a better way, since I'm not the only one who didn't get your point. "T25 that HAS the 105 gun" - sure, it HAS...
Well as for that rubbish "proposal" which existed only on some napkin in an arsenal, 100% it WON'T be implemented. There are tons of American vehicles that were at least actually built.
Oh? tons of american tanks actually built? Then why are there made up TDs when there are actually some projects that have a shred of reality? I said T25 and assumed everyone would know I'm talking about the real one and not the false one, sad to see it isnt so.
I would rather a tank that has a shred of reality then something completely fantasy, I dont know about you but If you like this way of designing tanks, sure, tell Wargaming to dump all realistic tanks and just make there own. It must be rubbish to one more realism
@Last anon first: Every question of "will project_name be implemented" sort is a demand. What else?
@Another anon. Shred of reality you say? Now the Real T25 Medium Tank(!) carried the 90mm Gun. How many Pershings do we need more? There are already 6 of them: T20, T21, M26, T26E4, M46 and T25/2 they're all Pershings, some manoeuvrable, some armoured but basically same shit all over again.
You cant call them Pershings because theyre a different model of tanks, the M60 can branch all the way back to the Pershing, lets not bother call it the Patton anymore! Lets call the M60 the Pershing, and the T95, T54 and T96, genius, seeing the MBT70 uses elements of the T95/T96 you could call that the pershing as well as well aa a certain M1A1 we all know.
I do know the real T25 carried a 90mm gun but the one we have currently in game is certainly not the real T25. Why not actually use the real T25 and its proposed design? Wargaming have done it with many tanks before, there was no reason for them to make up a completely different tank and I think you can agree on that which is what I'm trying to say but may of failed to explain and got a little...harsh.
Why not call them Pershing? T20 is a pre-Pershing prototype, T21 is lightly armoured T20. M46 saw hardly any changes, especially in its appearance when being renamed and T25/2 is a Jackson-like turret on a Pershing-like hull. So yes, they're all Pershings.
As for the other T25, it might be included in the mid branch, but what would be the difference to M46 with its 105mm? And putting another mid into the TD branch is just ridiculous. Maybe as a prem mid, but prems are usually included in a more historical config, so it would again get the 90mm.
Will there be anymore Sherman variants added? I remember seeing 90mm pershing turret on an easy eight chassis and some angular upgraded Sherman, but are there gonna be any other variants like the M4A2, M4A3, or M4A4?
M4A2 and A4 probably aren't different enough to be implemented, and there's already two A3 variants at tier VI. The M4 Improved (the one with the jagged sloping) and the one with the Pershing turret might be added as premiums at some point.
Is the for in-game questions (e.g. when will tank X be added/changed/etc) or for historical questions? Sorry if this is supposed to be obvious, I've only just recently started following the blog so I'm not super familiar with the format.
In that case, I don't know if you've already covered this but could you do an article on the autoloader series (why they came about, how they were developed, why they were eventually abandoned, that sort of thing)
Has there been anything on the M19GMC getting put in? For those not familiar, it's an armored AA vehicle built on the M24 chassis with twin 40mm cannons. I'm not really sure where they'd put it (maybe a tier 4 or 5 TD?), but it would be neat to have AA tanks like it and the Wirbelwind in the game.
Did they ever test the M4 mated with the Pershing turret? It's not like it does really matter in WoT, mating a Panther turret with a PzIV is an okay for WG, but I'm curious about it.
tested in game or in real life? I believe they did test it in real life as a conversion expedient to sending M26s in the field (the idea was to get 90mm gun armed tanks into the field faster) but the idea was shelved when they realized that the turrets wouldn't make it to the field much faster than the M26s, so they decided to just wait on the M26s.
Same usual 120mm T53 gun, but equipped with a bore evacuator and with muzzle brake "replaced by cylindrical blast deflector or counterweight" (c)Hunnicutt.
Bullshit. Neither was T123 ever mounted on T34 since the tank was long abandoned by the time the gun was developed, nor was T53 rigidly mounted on T34.
Were there any other US inspired tank projects like the D.L.43 Nahuel?
In the old american techtree the Panther M10 is listed as an american premium tank, is there a possibility to get any german tanks as captured premium tanks? Were there any instances of american tankers useing captured german tanks?
-Which american tank or tanks do you think they will add next, and when do you think they will do it? I am two tanks away from researching all american vehicles and I want more. -Do you think the Walking Bulldog will arrive anytime soon? -Do you think they are planing a whole new line or will add tanks here and there in the existing lines? -When can we expect the M60 to arrive, and what are you thoughts about the way of getting it? -Have you heard any rummors about a possible tier 7-8 americant premium tank, and if yes, what is the most possible type of the tank?
I can answer one of your questions. The M60 is already in-game, only for supertesters atm. It won't be a regular medium tank but a clan wars special prize.
Yes, I know it is in the game for supertesters ... but when they plan to release it like ... official:). I read the clan wars thing as well, but what kind of prize, is there any suggestions. And how would they choose which clan member will receive it, or it will be for all members of the clan?
I believe these special tanks should be for those that unlock the nation in question's expert medal. It would be a nice reward for what's usually alot of work.
1) Why the obsession over massive turret armor in the T29/30/32/34? 2a) Why did US tanks (that made it into service) have such thin armor relative to their Soviet counterparts until the M60A1? 2b) If the reasoning behind thin armor was that there was no defense against contemporary ammunition, why wasn't the mobility improved (as with the Leopard 1 and AMX-30)? 3) What was the philosophy behind the M48 having a machine gun in the commander's cupola that could only fire 50 rounds of .50 caliber ammunition before needing to reload?
1. Hull down fighting. 2. Not really thin, M48 gave D-25 and D-10 guns problems which resulted in development of D-54 and M-62 guns (early-mid '50s) and introduction of HEAT ammo for D-10 in 1961. 3. NBC protection on radioactive battlefield.
- any tips on American premium tank destroyers? - we all know the Russians and Germans had some really silly and useless stuff, were there some silly inventions/components/whole vehicles the Americans designed? Apart from the XV-8 that is - would the post-war (50's/60's) 90mm HVAP/HEAT/APDS ammunition be able to deal with the T-54/55 and T-62 tanks?
I'm interested in the T48 project so any info on it would be welcome. Also do you have any info about the armour of the T95 variants? I've only found info here: http://www.tankinfo.ru/Country/USA/2/medium/T95E1.php but have no idea how reliable this is.
1. Do you think that we'll see the T23E3 in the game in the future? Maybe as a tier 8 premium or another medium line for the american vehicles? 2. Chaffee should be tier 6, with the T21 at tier 5 before it, T21's spot at tier 6 should be taken by the T71 and T23 introduced at tier 7. What do you think about that. I think that T21 is underperforming at tier 6 and Chaffee is OP for tier 5 (VK 28.01 was moved one tier up; T-50-2 and Chaffee should move up as well) 3. M107/M110 SPA (self propelled artillery) to be the next tier 10 american arty. I think it would fit well. The only problem that could raise is that the first models were delivered in 1962! (but the project started soon after the Korean War - 1953). This arty would be unusual for a tier 10 vehicle because the player would have to research a secondary cannon since the stock version would be the M107 with the 175 mm gun (that would be precise but would have no splash and low damage - like the Obj. 261 has). Upgrading the cannon will transform the vehicle in M110 with the 203 mm cannon that would tear apart anything at the cost of precision.
Hey! - What tier will the Mk.VIII International tank be and is it still due to be implemented? (Not sure if thats the right name but the Joint American/British tank from the end of WW1) - Are we likely to see the M107 175mm self propelled gun? - Are we likely to see the M110 203mm self propelled Howitzer

What about the M47 Patton? Can we expect that for example as tier 8 premium tank? I'd love to see that in WoT.
Nope, Continental from US medium tanks simply does not fit in T28/T95 engine compartment and it was checked by The_Chieftain and Patton museum curator.
Not that there aren't upgrades that simply wouldn't fit already (see Churchill I/VII and Cromwell with their high-vlocity 75/76mm guns in turrets that couldn't carry them).
Those guns could actually fit (FFS 85mm S-53 gun could fit in original T-34 turret), it is just that elevation/depression and rate of fire would be inadequate.
I have few questions: 1. Are TDs branches gonna be reworked? (I mean delete duplicated or WG made TDs) 2. What about 2nd meds line? From Jumbo/E8 with including M4 with Pershing turret and 90mm gun? 3. What about M41? I'm afraid if Chaffee will be moved tier higher it will be nerfed like VK 28.01 4. What about 105 mm gun with M103? It's quite better than grinding old T34 when it was tier 9. But same gun through 3 tiers?
Heve the US ever endulged into multiturret or multigun tank vehicles? I must admit I am looking forward to them. Do you think there are any US "landships" that may yet to come to World of Tanks? I am a huge fan of such unrealistic concepts like T95, Maus, Kv-5 and TOG - all the tanks evolved towards somethinglighere, and as such those beast majesticaly move overthe battelfieds. I esecially love TOG dwarfing its teammates :) What is the most unusual tank that we may yet to see in the US tech tree?
How much material WG can found for us heavy and medium lines?? Afther the're out of material would they implement fictional tanks like Short Bull and E79 from ps1 game Panzer front?
Pen of those is not underestimated, eg. in tests vs same target (T-54A) M36 performed worse the 100mm D-10T, which in game penetrates 175mm. So it's pen (171mm IIRC) is OK.
D-10 should be slightly more (scaling to 88/71 about 190mm), and scaling with that and Yugo tests in '60s M36 would be ~175-180mm. Not that much difference and I am not sure if worth bothering rebalancing guns.
If the T58 heavy tank (155mm "revolver loaded") was getting ingame, what would be the most likely balance changes to the vehicle? Regards, Hustodemon from EU server
Hello, can you find any historical info about the Hellcat 90mm gun carriage project having MORE than 30 shells? I really want something to lean on that will improve the Hellcat's sudden end to an awesome 7-8 kill streak. ;P
While true, it would be a tight fit. Seen here: http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/attachments/ground-warfare/25153d1305782886-pershing-tank-tankgervsuk.jpg
76x350 is not all /that/ big when compared to 90x600 which the 90mm gun used. While i do agree that 30 would be a decent guess, it would be slightly innacurate. Considering height to be unimportant if we're talking about vertically stacking shells in an open topped vehicle, since the turret would be unable to handle them stacked horizontally, we get this:
Math time. 76mm shell, call it square for ease of calculus. 0.76*0.76 = 0.5776 cm2 per shell. 45*0.5776=25.992 cm2 of space for 76mm ammo.
90mm shell. 0.90*0.90=0.81 cm2. 30*0.81=24.3 cm2 of space for 90mm ammo.
There seems to be more room for 90mm shells if we take the 76mm ammo capacity as being standard. Using the same estimate.. 25.992 cm2 for 90mm ammo, it would drop us at 32.08 shells.
So yes, while i might be cheesy, i really want those extra two rounds, and i think all Hellcat drivers out there that ever got into a 7-8+ kill good match will appreciate the small kindness.
Is the T95 and T54E2 medium tanks still planned to become apart of the tree?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the T25 with the 105mm gun?
Will the M60 get a M60A1 turret as an upgrade?
if you're talking about the T25 TD, it already has the 105mm gun.

How much material WG can found for us heavy and medium lines?? Afther the're out of material would they implement fictional tanks like Short Bull and E79 from ps1 game Panzer front?
ReplyDeletepenetration of American's long 90mm
ReplyDeleteEx: T15E1, T15E2, M36, M41 may be underestimate
will these gun get buffed?
Pen of those is not underestimated, eg. in tests vs same target (T-54A) M36 performed worse the 100mm D-10T, which in game penetrates 175mm. So it's pen (171mm IIRC) is OK.
DeleteI thought penetration of M36 and D-10T "both" are underestimated?
DeleteD-10 should be slightly more (scaling to 88/71 about 190mm), and scaling with that and Yugo tests in '60s M36 would be ~175-180mm. Not that much difference and I am not sure if worth bothering rebalancing guns.
DeleteIf the T58 heavy tank (155mm "revolver loaded") was getting ingame, what would be the most likely balance changes to the vehicle?

Hello, can you find any historical info about the Hellcat 90mm gun carriage project having MORE than 30 shells? I really want something to lean on that will improve the Hellcat's sudden end to an awesome 7-8 kill streak. ;P
ReplyDeleteConsidering it had 45 x 76mm rounds, I doubt much more then 30 x 90mm was possible.
DeleteWhile true, it would be a tight fit. Seen here: http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/attachments/ground-warfare/25153d1305782886-pershing-tank-tankgervsuk.jpg
Delete76x350 is not all /that/ big when compared to 90x600 which the 90mm gun used.
2nd turret is standard M36 turret and holds 14 x 90mm in turret bustle.
DeleteRest would have to be stored in hull.
Other than the T28/95 what were other american super-heavy tank projects?
