21.3.2013

- according to the wot-news.com server, the test of the 8.5 patch will start in April, while the patch itself already has a date roughly decided internally ("few weeks before May") - eg. mid April
- Q: "Is there a chance bigger than 0 percent that during the big changes to the game, the significance of armor will return?" A: "000,1 percent chance is bigger than 0 :) Otherwise: no comment"
- you get 1,333 times more XP for damage dealt to enemy tank you yourself light up than when someone else lit it up for you
- Storm explains why AMX ELC is not called ELC Bis: "AMX is a company, not the name of the tank, bis - means 'modification', but since our ELC doesn't include only that modification designated as "ELC bis", it's possible to remove it from the name"
- SerB regarding the same issue: "The question (SS: why it's ELC and not ELC bis) is stupid and not worthy of an answer. It's connected with the fact that modifications are not included in the names of the tanks. For example, KV-1S very often does drive around in the KV-122 modification. We won't change that either."
- the penetration values for gold shells are based on real penetration data
- what will Chris Taylor and his studio work on? "no comment for now, but we won't keep him as a support staff"
- the new camo system (SS: planned for 0.9.0, eg. not anytime soon) is "a separate project, aimed at the increase of importance of equipment and skills/perks improving the vehicle camouflage, on the big tanks"
- the nickname of the damaging vehicle only appears when your vehicle is critted, not when you recieve regular damage, the purpose of this is that you don't get spammed with info
- there will be no premature "in work" pictures for the client physics, when it's announced, it's going to be big, with press info and everything
- according to Storm, T-70 could not fire historically on airborne targets
- Improved ventilation does give a bonus to the Mentor perk
- there will be no "voluntary account ban/account lock" for those who don't want to play: "If you don't want to play, don't play - it's not the air, water or bread, it's completely possible to live without playing voluntarily"
- if you report one player 5 times in game... you're not helping (apparently support doesn't take such spamreports seriously)
- "funny" archievements such as "lumberjack" (for running over trees) have been abandoned a long time ago in order not to encourage improper behavior in battle
- people are actually already asking about what will be the next New Year present, SerB: "And do you also harass your mommy and daddy about christmas presents in March?"

Storm also wrote a new article about teamdamage - he's asking players how happy they are with the current system basically. Not too much interesting info in it (just a bunch of usual moaning). Just one thing - Storm wrote in a comment that since 0.8.4, the sniper medal is not connected with ramming. Apparently there was a bug if I understand correctly, that you lose the sniper medal when an allied moron rammed you and it's fixed now. Not sure I get it right.

    1. SerB looks like a dick sometimes but he also gives completely deserved replies quite often.

    2. We have so nice winter weather here, in Hungary, that maybe the Easter bunny will freeze and SantaClaus will replace him :S Actually I start to feel like Christmas, in MARCH :S

    Seems legit. *crosses fingers*

  3. I can confirm the Sniper medal fixed when being rammed by a teammate.

I have a screenshot of me with a sniper medal, even though I have something like 3 damage towards my teammates.

    1. I too can confirm this. I've had at least two battles where I got sniper after some idiot rammed me.

  4. Why are there such poor questions being asked?
Why is there never a question of a decent British premium tank for tier 8, or on prospective Chinese artillery or such?

    1. I think it is like this, because on RU server not many people play British tanks. (Is it much different here on EU?) These are not facts, just my guess.

About Chinese, hell, I don't know.

Press info? That will be huge. Maybe even trailer in Gametrailers :D

SS, you translated this wrong. It should read "it's not the trolling, wodka or potatoes".

  7. Few weeks before May? hmmm why they want to rush it? usually they took around 1week per public test. So if test 1 begins in the first week of April, then some bit more server preparations, few more days pass and aprox on 15 we will have the patch released already.

    I find this quite strange.

    - either the german tanks wont even need much testing because they will simply suck so there's not much to be done.
    - or they will rush them as OP, people get hyped>waste lots of gold for Leo's, then 8.6 comes , nerfhammers hits them hard, more german tanks hate-russian bias threads.

Although i dunno how can a paper tank such as Leo become OP anyway. Guess it will be the first conclusion....

Well at least i hope IS-7 will be buffed as rumored. Now im already more excited about 8.6+Havok than for this patch!

  8. Leo: think batchat/T62 speed with brit medium gun without HESH.

  9. A lot has been written recently about the Havok Physics engine but what will it actually do? i.e. in the game what will you see?

Buildings exploding? Moving aside rubble? Bits of tank breaking off when it? Tanks mangled when rammed? What will we see "in game"?

    1. According to answers from the devs, it will be mainly a visual change, like moving antennas on tanks (first thing coming to my mind) and so on, it shouldn't change gameplay at all, so for an example, it won't introduce turrets getting blown off tanks and becoming solid rubble.

    2. One relatively big thing is that you'd get independent suspension, eg: no more wheels moving like they're all stuck together, but each wheel moving on its own, which while probably not influencing gameplay at all, it does add a bit more feel to the game, which in my books is alright.

  10. Tanks mangled when rammed is excluded, since they just announced NEW tank models are in the works. So there is no point to put effort in the already OLD models now.

From what i remember it will include :

    - realistic independent suspension simulation.
    - more detailed destruction (walls,buildings,etc).

And my own speculation related to havok capabilities :

    - probably even include HAVOK physics for water (which is freaking awesome, YT it)
    - real physics behavior for objects too, when running over them (light poles, cars, trucks, barrels, etc)
    - crates in the ground after big shells hit the ground?

Also they mentioned it will be client only, so it wont have a big impact on servers performance. And you can also turn it ON/OFF.

    1. I doubt we'll get physics for map objects or the ability to create craters, since that stuff can't really be clientside.

    2. Looking at this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQnrll8H-z4

I get a feeling will get a bit more realistic weather and not just a static background xD

btw, water physics looks awesome with HAVOK!

  11. "you get 1,333 times more XP for damage dealt to enemy tank you yourself light up than when someone else lit it up for you"

    Wat.

Previously they've said that damaging targets lit up by others splits the XP evenly between the spotter and shooter. By that logic, the multiplier should be 50%/100% = 2, not 1.333

Goddamn, are they changing official statements about mechanics AGAIN?

    1. >In reference to the third part, Overlord once gave some explanations on various mechanics and the thread was pinned. One of the notes said that if [caliber] / [armour thickess] >= 2, normalisation is multiplied by that ratio- but the official penetration mechanics vid displayed an additional 1.4 coefficient on the formula.

Only American kids do this and it not a request....it's tell their parents what they will get.

  13. Wait.. ELC Bis was a final suggestion from the Hotchkiss not from the AMX.

Are the Hotckiss and AMX same companies? O.o
