"We don't nerf premium tanks" - yea, right. Superpershing recieved a visually substantial nerf in frontal hull armor. See for yourself:
On the paper, the armor remains officially the same, but gamemodels3d show us that the frontal spaced armor got nerfed by cca 25mm - plus the armor angle is less steep, which means less bounces.
I cant say, I dont like that.

DeleteThat new model is actually more historically accurate (the hull itself was less sloped than the spaced armour, that's why it's mounted on rods and not directly welded on). But then again, the gun is utterly neutered, it was on par with the long 88 (it's an L/74 barrel, ffs).

This is only a bloody lame excuse for WG.net buffing, but mostly nerfing tanks around every way they want to. Did you played it on the new test ? ( 8.6 ) I played it and SP sux. Every shot on your frontal armor penetrates you.

I have the S.P. and it's a real piece of crap. No mobility, pethetic gun, before it had 'meh' armor and now I don't even want to now. Really bad tank, the only thing it could save it is a new engine.

DeleteNo, the super pershing did not suffer a reduction to its spaced armour. It's spaced armour is identical to what it was. The only thing that changed on the 8.6 front in gamemodels, from some reason a 0mm spaced armour component is displayed.

Thats not what i meant ( but good to know though ). They changes/nerf made the frontal armor slope less, so doesn't this reduces the overall frontal armor? Shouldn't this just make it easier to penetrate with AP?

Angle increases the effective armour, so by lowering the angle you NERF THE TANK dumass.

And it's still not fully accurate- instead of having two 38mm spaced armour plates, it has only one, with the sections of hull with double overlap being thickened by 38mm- and the hull has less slope than the extra plating. ReplyDeleteSome Russian guy from WG said, that the SP wont absorb the HEAT shells as it used to, because there are not much space between the hull armor and the additional armor. Only high tier tanks like E-100 and Maus benefit from this because they have larger space between the inner and outer armor.

DeleteThe bother is that everyone with 225+ penetration will be able to just kill SP right trough the front hull. No need to BOTHER with the weakspot.
And yes everyone shoots the weakspot only now they will be able to do so more reliably because of the accuracy buff.
SP armour went from hero to zero is what bothers me, and the rest of the tank is crap.
Also the addon plates and the mantle appear slightly darker pink, wich means more armor.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, the added a 0mm group of spaced armour for the tank, taking the place of what was the front spaced armour (38mm), and pushing the colour of the spaced armour to be slightly darker. Overall, the armour is identical.

ReplyDeleteIt's no real nerf, calm down. Maybe more guns will pen the front but that doesn't mean this shells will do damage because it's still spaced armor. And everyone "pens" the front of SP actually in 8.5 already but doesn't do any damage.
ReplyDeleteSP is made for newbies who rush straight to the enemy. Because of the spaced armor this noobs can survive a little bit longer and "enjoy" the game more then 2-3mins per round. No serious player would play the SP... wait... no serious player would play WoT seriously. Hope you get my point ;)

They're bitching because that change crippled its armor. Its armor - the only strongpoint the tank had - is now 30% less effective. HEAT changes? Would take 60cm of space between the spaced armor and hull to make up for that (hunt: there's not that much room). APCR? Normalization dropped by three but the Super Pershing lost 10 degrees at least.
