Well, looks like Wargaming has another competition fail on its hands (let's not use "rigging" word, please... let's all just think it and wink significantly at each other :) nah, just kidding.). I got an e-mail yesterday from PoddyMcQ - a player, who took part in it. Here's what happened as he described it:
On 19.1.2013, German community announced an Nvidia competition. What was it about? Basically if I understand it correctly, you had to collect as much XP and medals as possible under some rules. Pretty run-of-the-mill competition. The first to third place prize was an Nvidia graphic card (GeForce GTX660Ti), fourth to tenth place prize were various amounts of gold.
Now, PoddyMcQ ended second - the results were announced on 19.2.2013. After that, he got contacted by PanzerGert (German CO) for shipping details and... nothing happened. After some time and some conversation with PanzerGert, the parcel was "allegedly" sent to the Wargaming office by a screwup. WG people said they'd fix it ASAP, but nothing happened again, player's questions about the parcel number (so he can track it) were unanswered. Now, it's been 3 months since the competition end - and still nothing. Only a few days ago, Berbo bothered to answer that "the issue has been forwarded to the guy in charge".
Well, this isn't the first time a WG EU competition had such a fail, let's hope Poddy and other folks (who apparently didn't get shit either) get their prizes soon. And for all you other people - whenever you want to participate in some "grand prize" competition, think about Poddy...
As the old says goes... "Beware of Wargaming, especially when they bear gifts"...
ReplyDeletebirthday-card contest. over 1 month now
ReplyDeleteI am still waiting for those results too.
Deletehehehhe me 2 :)
Deleteand they said that everybody wins... haha i dont think that everybody geta an type59 or type62... so again WG fooled us
Deletewhat an idiot... they said everybody will get a small price and SOME will get a type 62/59... learn to read ffs
DeleteAnd it takes some time to open the around 20k letters they got and put the names on the list.
Actually it is 8.5k letters, but apart I second the notion of the anon above.
DeleteIts more then 14k for sure cause just 2 weeks ago they said on the german forum that they already finished 14k ...
DeleteYet another example of a poorly managed company.
ReplyDeleteDoes this come as a surprise to anyone?
ReplyDeleteProbably to the fanboys.
DeleteBut being fanboys I'm sure they will come up with a quick excuse.
DeleteSomewhat similar thing happened to me when I won a WoT t-shirt on a local forum contest, somebody thought that my forum name corresponded with the one in my passport and put it on the envelope. Good thing that post office ladies were quite understanding, although the shirt did dye my laundry later on :).
ReplyDeleteI won such a contest as well. Still waiting for my T-shirt..
DeleteSorry for being out of sync, but what happened with Poddy? Similar contest and no prize either?
ReplyDeleteNevermind, its Poddy*McQ*...
DeleteOMG he has to wait some time for a free gift? OMG we all gona die now...
ReplyDeleteOf course such things are annoying, but this is just another dramaqueen post...
3 months now?
DeleteWell... I'm sure you didn't win anything on that competition...
It's a FREE gift ffs.
DeleteIf they wouldnt have done that competition on the first place nothing would have changed for him...
If he gets his price he can be happy if he doesn't(or does after 3 months (omg sooooo much time *facepalm*)) what is he losing then?
Does he lose anything by participating and waiting? No in the end he will get a FREE graphic card. If he doesnt want to wait 3 or 4 months for it, just mail me I will take it for sure.
Will live in a mad world, where everything at best should have been finished yesterday or the day before...
I mean of course it sucks to have to wait for it, but as said before its not like he's losing anything by doing so...
Oh, get out of here! Defend your company somewhere else.
DeleteThree (!) months to wait and STILL nothing. If they send it on a horse it would already arrive.
free or not... 3 months is totaly insane. Iam buying with the slowest postal service from Japan and shipping takes 1 month at MAX. Once a packet was delivered by a ROAD shipment method that made like 10 stops in 10 different postal offices basically across the whole world lol and still it arrived in less then 50 days rofl.
DeleteThis is not the first case of strange event results...
The point is they DID do the competition, they DID make the guarantee the winners would receive prizes, and now THREE months later still nothing. If they can't even get something this simple right, it makes you wonder what else they might not get right, doesn't it?
DeleteI'm replying to the original poster.
DeleteYou are right about the whole "It's Free, no one has to sacrifice/spend anything for the prize". True, but SS's post isn't about "the guy that didn't get the prize". It's about the low, or lack of, professionalism of WG EU.
If a company promises a reward, then they damn sure should deliver. If they can't, they shouldn't have promise anything in the first place.
PS: btw, you're an idiot.
Anon above me speaks the truth.
DeleteIt seems that they didn't learned anything. In beta I won t-shirt with pendrive and I had to wait nearly three months to get them (and t-shirt was in really small size so I can't wear it anyway). It's even worse now because guy win much bigger prize and still didn't received it.
Deleteyou guys who defend wargaming and say another drama queen post , answer this do war gaming wait for three months for the money for the gold we buy
DeleteReply to the original post: we are talking about a computer part here. The world of computers are on a steamroll right now. There's a new, high-tech, best-of-the-best computer part coming out every 2-3 months. If I go buy a series 6 GeForce card right now, I'm 100% positive that by the same day a year later, nVidia will be at the end of the series 7 or the beginning of the 8.
DeleteSo you participate in a competition, because you can get a (then) top-notch VGA. You win it. By the time you get it, it will be only another outdated VGA.
That's unacceptable.
Thoroughly disgusted by these WG fanboys/apologists. 3 months is just unprofessional any way you sliced it. Give me one good reason why it takes 3 months to ship a prize out.
DeleteEverything is the way as it suppose to be in WG world.
ReplyDeleteWorking as intended.
DeleteI dont care about the competition. They should finally fix this fucking crash to desktop bug which appears with new drivers.
ReplyDeletehall0
I havent seen that bug since i updated to the newest 320.14 drivers.
DeleteSome WG employees needed new VGAs for their computers. Case solved.
ReplyDelete+1
Deletelame reply, if only you knew what shit employees go thru...
DeletePeople in North America I know won a t-shirt for a contest a year and a half ago. Guess what they still have not received?
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the people who have won a graphics card. It's getting boring Gert (German community coordinator) to write almost every week. The excuses are not very good. Allegedly, the cards in a package of services does not manage to deliver this, but I no longer believe in it and I doubt it will ever get something.
ReplyDeleteThis is weird, i've won last year in the video making competition and received my reward after 3-4 weeks.
ReplyDeleteEverything was ok, i didn't even know they didn't send me the frame i would use for my lovely WoT canvas, and after a few days the steel frame arrived separately.
Maybe i was one of the lucky ones :3
wonder why cant they just make a "gift card" they can just email to the winner, what can be exchanged for the specific VGA (or any other gift) at the nearest importer...
ReplyDeleteSo, I guess this is completely different to the current NVIDIA WoT Tourney being run at the moment? Because that is also a poorly run excuse for a thing
ReplyDeleteMe and my brother both took part in the video competition last year. He won a headset and a mouse+mousepad, I have won a mouse+mousepad. But my mouse was not in the package, but the mousepad was (or his mouse xD). So I've contacted them,I had to wait a bit, but they were polite and helpful, and I received my mouse in the end.
ReplyDeleteWG is more corrupted then fucking EA Games
ReplyDeleteIt seems that way these days. But whats even worse is that WG isn't even trying to hide it anymore.
DeleteSS??? You know that this fat piece of shit called PanzerGert already rigged competitions like your favourite Czech Staff member? Rule change completion of the task.
ReplyDeleteAhhh well, knowing the effects of obesity such as diabetes or heart attack I remained silent and let him deal with the issue.
This is a very serious accusation (I was merely joking when I wrote this Nvidia competition was rigged, I hope all understood that). If you have a proof, I will be glad to see it (over e-mail, please, contact info is up above)
DeleteWould have it, but it's on German^^
Deletelol my story is similar i won the black tom mvp contest in January 2013 just recieved after very poor communication last week herd from the events manager 2 times during this 4 month wait for prizes from Logitech via WG NA
ReplyDeleteWG eats little children!!!1
ReplyDeleteSerB: Wanna super fast shipment? Go join the FedEx.
ReplyDeleteMY SIDES
DeleteWell, it was regional contest - not much of management there I guess.
ReplyDeleteI correctly guessed a "Guess what?" competition 10-15 minutes after the first piece was revealed. I had a valid explination as to why I thought it was what it was, it wasn't just a shot in the dark. I didn't win. The "winners" guessed it a day or two after me on the second or third reveals. The answer support gave me was that I spelled it "Dickermax" instead of "Dicker Max". I got that *incorrect* spelling *from* the official WG announcement page for the Dicker Max, as it wasn't actually released yet. They themselves had spelled it "Dickermax".
ReplyDeleteSolexi
Believe me I'm still waiting for my Razor gaming mouse...
ReplyDeletethat u won one week ago...
Delete(btw im also "still" waiting for my keyboard)
These things happen when the prizes in question have already been promised/given to somebody else :D
ReplyDeleteSuch things don't go missing on their own, somebody usually gives the "helping hand" :)
In polish section on the forum contest they perm ban winners and give prizes to cheaters so that wg nvidia fail is not a big deal.
ReplyDeletepromoting their game with competitions comes as a priority, rewarding players with things that actually cost them real money has the lowest priority.
ReplyDeleteIt is to be completely expected, just like any big game company
If you want to have the prize faster - join army. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnother piece in the big puzzle displaying all of Wargaming.net as deceiptful low life scum just fell into place ...
ReplyDeleteTo say it with Serbs words: "Want stuff? Go buy it u worthless piece of shit! Want something free? Here is your 3 month in game ban for asking! Dont ever talk to me again! Gosh people are so below me"
ReplyDeleteOh, Valve had control over this game...
ReplyDeleteIF*
DeleteWell, things would be different.
If Valve had control of the game we wouldn't see big updates for 10 years at a time.
DeleteAlso hats, there would somehow add hats to the game.
DeleteVery true, Soon(TM) in Valve Time means: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time
DeleteAt least ASAP by WG is not that bad...
So many bungled contests leads me to believe they just want to keep the player base occupied so they don't realize the mess this game has become and quit for good.
ReplyDeleteAnd while we sit there participating in their gimmicky contests or weekend specials, we just might end up buying some more gold; its a win-win for WG.
I guess they should have done an AMD Competition... Atleast AMD videocards work on world of tanks :-P
ReplyDeletetime to look for other game =)
ReplyDeleteAll prizes goes thru TankMail ;)
