Ever get penned through your mighty armour when you least expected it? Ever had to begrudgingly load expensive APCR when you get thrown into the bottom of the match by the cruel matchmaker? Turns out, it's not just Wargaming raking in your
Even the mighty Tiger falls to the power of OP APCR.
Although, even without "gold" ammo, the T-70 is no slouch against higher tier vehicles.
"On March 26th, while conducting reconnaissance, Junior Lieutenant Pegov spotted a column of Panther tanks. After ordering the driver to drive behind a bush, comrade Pegov loaded his gun and waited. At 200 meters, Pegov fired and knocked out the head tank. He then damaged the second tank, immobilizing it, and blocking the tank column, defeating the enemy's counterattack." - M. Svirin, Heavy Panther Tank.
"Low tier" vehicles didn't perform that poorly overall. The Panther's top enemy in combat in 1943 was the 76 mm caliber, at 41% of the kills, the second was 45 mm, at 38%. Then, 17% for the 14.5 mm anti-tank rifle, and 4% from all other calibers.
Even the little T-40, approximated by a stock tier 2 T-60 in the game, was no slouch on the battlefield.

I always licked the idea of gold ammo for credits and I'm very happy that WG decided to implement it.
ReplyDeleteliked*
DeleteI think you are alone with that idea :D I'd glad if they would delete the gold ammo at all, CW would be much better without it...
DeleteI'm second to actually like the idea. Now you can't call a wallet warrior someone who uses gold ammo, because it's available to anyone!
DeleteIf you don't use gold ammo, that's your PERSONAL choice but remember, sometimes even ONE gold shell used in a right moment can turn the tide of battle. The victory and cost of gold shell can be much more worth than loss without it, think about it when you want to whine about gold shells again.
At least we can trust the russian historians. USSR never forged history... At least I am skeptic...
ReplyDeleteI agree, German guns have excessively high penetration with standard ammo compared to more or less historically correct American and Soviet guns.
DeleteWell, I guess you can't trust those Soviets, let's use American penetration numbers for all guns!

200 mm on the D10T, I like the sound of that :)
This is against what and what angle? RHA, 90? More details, please.
DeleteBuy the book and find out :)
DeleteEven the german "Panzerabwehrkanonen 1916-1977" gives 185mm for the D10 and that book is VERY detailed on the german side.
DeleteOh Americans, i guess that muzzle velocity is in feets per seconds and distance in feets :D
DeleteI really like idea of Hetzers knocking down ISes or Stuarts and Daimlers knocking downs Panthers (my fav moment in CC2 :))
Pls buff IS to have 200 mm pene and 0,33 acc. And keep the 390 alpha too.
DeleteOh and buff german too, nazi tanks best IRL, pls 300mm armor front on Tiger , 400 dmg alpha on 88 because best gun too. Russian Bias, Russian Bias, fuk u WG
French tanks shiet, delete from game because france sur at 20
PS. Why E-75 burn when hit in front, I'm an internet engineer and actually know it can't burn so is not possible! Dat Russian Bias OMGGGGGGG!!!!!!111
PS2. Delete gold shells for credits because I don't use them and I'm smart and lose while dumb noobs use them because available for credits.
"Delete... because I don't use them"
DeleteDat Anonymous bias OMGGGGGG!!!!!1111
"I'm an internet engineer"
Make your own internet game and play it alone.
Thanks to gold shells I can easly distinguish real men from little crying girls. When you get a hit with a gold shell you know who is your oponent ;)
tchopz u mad ?
DeleteTo John: and of course in the same time nazy germany minister of propaganda dr.Goebbels are universally known as an example of clear truth! And of course western allies never committed any atrocities and never lied about that.
DeleteLoL you internet kids are so funny, discounting USSR's data only because its USSR's and in the same time trusting with all heart to data from country in which minister of propaganda name became a household name as an example of outright lies.
russia stronk, germany weak. SIEMKA
ReplyDeleteMy top 7 I can recall (random order)
DeleteNice cheat
Omg u cheater u couldn't shoot me

"Retarded team"
DeleteThat must have been me playing. :D
I always answer "nikt" ("nobody" in polish) to "Kto PL?". The problem is it works sometimes. It's the moment you startto think that you are the only smart person in your team...
Deleteofftopic, Frank, any idea when WG will implement for the Germans, Russian captured tanks like kv1 and t34?? thx
ReplyDeleteHenriques (EU)
SerB said no captured tanks this year :(
DeleteI think there are more interesting tanks to add then recolors of existing ones
Deletegerman kv-1 is not the same as the russian kv-1, germans added a commanders copula and the pz4 gun...
DeleteHenriques (EU)
Yeah, both the Soviets and the Germans replaced the guns on some captured tanks. The captured premium tanks won't be like the Hotchkiss, they will be more like the Lend-Lease premiums: mostly the same tank, but with different guns, and slightly different stats.
DeleteYou could say that. Tier 5 battle and I was only one with tier 3 (M2 med) tank while rest had tier 5 tanks and arties.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have seen that quite often while I have lowest tier tank and enemy has none.
So tanks used to go full of premium ammo? Or it was something very scarce? How many shot do a Panther with 75/L70 gun need in order to take out a T-34? Etc etc etc etc...
ReplyDeleteTungsten is expensive. The Soviets handed out a few such shells per tank. German APCR was rare enough that the Soviets started research into countermeasures when the PzIIIJ came out (it could penetrate the front of a T-34 with APCR), but then decided not to bother: http://tankarchives.blogspot.com/2013/05/research-into-soviet-armour-protection.html
DeleteAs for how many hits it takes to take out a T-34, the average is ~1.8. I don't have the exact numbers on me at the moment.
From what I remember reading, weren't the Brits pretty much the only ones to issue in game terms premium ammo in relatively liberal quantitites? I understand everyone else's tankers could consider themselves lucky to have a handful along...
DeleteThe Germans issued it in large quantities at the start of the war but as it dragged on it became limited and then almost nonexistent. They had a stock of shells and basically used them up and were not able to make more due to a lack of tungsten that was needed in higher priority projects. The tungsten shells for the Sherman were also scarce I think iirc that at most they ad about 12 rounds per tank on the high side and that was only if they could get it.
DeleteTungsten is expensive, heavy, hard to machine and hard to extract and is used in a stupid number of applications. For use in shells it just comes down to priority and, as with any metal, but more so with rare metals it is not always easy to increase metal production output. Esp in the middle of a war.
NEMO.
76 mm - 41%, 45 mm - 38% IRL...
ReplyDeletePanther and Tiger as T7 barely meet those guns in WOT. And have to face D5, D10 and D25...
Panther and Tiger also barely meet the numbers of tanks they have been meeting histicaly.
Delete3 Panthers, 2 Tigers on one side and 25 T-35s on the other. Would it be fun? I don't think so.
25 T-35s? I think it would be fun :)
DeleteT-34s... Mistyped...
DeleteHow many of Junior Lieutenant Pegov's comrades were lost in this skirmish?
ReplyDeleteNone. He was out on a scouting mission.
DeleteIf only my teammates played more like Junior Lieutenant Pegov and not random peasant Ivan... ie. suicide rush. Perhaps soviet army wouldn't have had such disproportionate causalities as well.
DeleteThey are always out on scouting missions alone with no one around to see anything those funny sowjet peasants.;)
