- Chinese M5A1 Stuart radio module will not be compatible with the US tree, despite the fact it's basically the same radio ("Chinese tankists educate themselves with Chinese translations of the US radio operating manuals. In this hard work the American tankers can't help them in any way.")
- French B2 premium arty has the same MM as every other tier 4 arty, despite the rumors of it having "special" MM
- the Leopard 1 in the game will be the one with cast turret, not the one with the welded one
- Q: "Historical sources (Doyle) mention 80mm frontal armor on the VK4502 both Ausf. B and Ausf. A, why is it not like that in the game?" A: "Here (for the rear turret variant) we applied the Ahnenerbe technology, otherwise Germans would get rather sour" (SS: "Ahnenerbe" is one of the SerB's running jokes, he explains every German (unrealistic) buff with "Ahnenerbe magic")
- Q: "Will the tier 10 arty cost approximately the same as other tier 10 tech?" A: "We'll see"
- premium tanks don't differ from promo/gift tanks principially in anything
- Storm commenting the fact that the 8.4 patch in the RU "in development" section is scheduled for February and in the EU one for March: "both are correct"
- fog in Dragon's ridge has no masking effect
- Soviet ZIS-30 TD (57mm ZIS-2 gun mounted on the T-20 "Komsomolec" tractor) - maybe, definitely not in 2013
- M48 tank will not be replaced by M60 (SS: emphasis on "replaced", eg. M60 might appear alongside it), because "M48 is where it belongs" (SS: as in "on its place")
- Q: "When will be the German 2nd branch and German tier 8 prem medium tank?" A: "Germanlovers und Germanloverettes nicht erste post of the topic readen? Ordnung mus zajn, darum fircen tage nicht schreiben" (SS: sorry, this is just really hilarious in Russian, very hard to translate tho. The original: Немцефилен унд немцефилкен нихьт ерсте пост тема читайнен?
Орднунг мус зайн, дарум фирцейн таге нихьт шрайбен! - one of the funniest things I've ever read from SerB)
- if the tank gets destroyed by killing off the entire crew but it has HP's left, the whole crew will recieve an XP penalty for dying (SS: there was a rumor they don't)
- SerB on whether the teamdamage penalty system will be reworked: "If necessery. And we decide what's necessery."
- Q: "Why do you answer the way you do (SS: sarcastically etc.), did you see somewhere World of Warcraft, Terra and Aion developers answering questions like that?" A: "Show me the Aion, Terra and World of Warcraft design vice-president's answers, and I will think about my behavior :) " (SS: later SerB states he considers his way of answering normal and basically he doesn't give a damn about AION)
- (related to the previous question) Q: "You'll sing a different tune when WoT has a good competition, I'll see how you talk then" A: "Yes, we are scared of this terribly good competitior for three years already, still nothing happened, so far we are still alive" (SS: after that a bunch of troll questions and answers follow in relation to how War Thunder will kick WoWp's ass - SerB trolls for a while and then replies "If you like it so much there why are you here?")
- currently an unified menu interface for WoT, WoWp and WoWs is in development ("when it's done it's done")

ReplyDeleteLOL, people say that SerB is evil. But here we see that he could according to thread rules give 14 RO, but he shown mercy :)
well, SerB writes 14 days no talk, so no mercy :)
DeleteYep, got it wrong :) Was too late for my brain :)
DeleteImage of the leopard doesn't work!

DeleteSerB will really drive off some players if he continues to troll like that. They might really go to War Thunder. And that is not healthy for WG.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that he isn't amusing to me, but some people don't find it that funny.
Russians do. His troll posts are steadily very well rated :)
Delete"Germanlovers und Germanloverettes nicht erste post of the topic readen? Ordnung mus zajn, darum fircen tage nicht schreiben"
ReplyDeleteIt's horribly mangled German as anyone can tell but it reads "Do Germanlovers and Germanloverettes not read the first post of the topic? We need to have order, that's why don't write the day [An: of the release of whatever he's talking about]!
You didn't get the joke, right? :)
DeleteActually more like:
Delete"Did Germanlovers and Germanloverettes not read the first post of the topic? There has to be order, so no writing for 14 days.
Yep, thats correct tranlation. I somehow got it wrong when I read it late at night yesterday. Of course he shown no mercy :D
DeleteWell, call me a germanlover (^^) but this is the first time I heard that there was only a 80mm frontal armour planned for the VK 4502 P. In addition I think that such a "low" value is quite unrealistic for a potential follow up to the Tiger. Do you have some addition info?
ReplyDeleteThe source for this is this book: Hilary L. Doyle, Thomas L. Jentz - Germany's Tiger VK45.02 to Tiger II: design, production, modification
DeleteSomehow I find it funny how they rely on Doyle for most things, but when something ingame contradicts Doyle, the speed of the german tanks for example, Doyle suddenly is wrong.
DeleteThanks, I'll try to get my hands on that book.
Delete@max, but they don't, they consistently say Doyle got stuff wrong about Germans, one way or the other

ReplyDeleteReal results or another fix?
Hello. I already posted this on the OL's blog, but I was wondering if I could get an answer here, since you (SS) are usually the one who has the most info about these amongst the community.
ReplyDelete(The post below is a direct copypaste from OL's blog, found here: http://overlord-wot.blogspot.fi/2013/01/wot-do-you-love-tanks.html?showComment=1358796006521#c2917220493824584495
"Hello OL! I have a question for you regarding tank balancing (Not a whine about how one tank is UP and other one is OP, but the method you use to balance things).
So on to my question: I remember reading/watching a video where the method you use for tank balancing was explained. In short it went like, that you take a sample of players (Who's global winrate is 48-49% for example), and then look at the average tank winrate of those players. If it's too high, tank gets nerfed, if it's too low, it gets buffed. This was the basic consept, I think it also included some other stats, but that winrate thing was the most important one. This way neither very good or very bad players wont affect the balancing of the tank too much. Am I right or wrong? If I'm wrong, could you explain the method you're using shortly?"
I am not aware of the totally exact method WG uses (noone from the players knows and they won't tell) , but roughly, you are correct. Winrate is the main indicator for buff/nerf need for a tank, there are secondary ones as you said: another is for example tank popularity, or historical authenticity. However, keep in mind that some tanks - while technically having special winrate (either too low or too high) aren't nerfed/buffed immediately, for example the Jagdpanzer E-100 has notoriously low winrate, the developers know about it (it was mentioned by Storm last autumn) but it hasn't been buffed yet - no official reason why, but the theory is that WG is waiting for some patch connected to German TD's (such as the German TD 2nd branch introduction).
DeleteThank you for the answer :)
